You need to change out the motors to the top.
They are weak,

1999, 93 convertible top starts to open or close sid beeps.
sounds like somethings preventing it from closing properly. Check it well worst case you need a new convertable module. Cost money but better then buying a new top

Convertible top will not close /open
I have had this problem with my 2005 S4 Cab - sometimes the top will not latch. I have found that this was because the fabric near the rear passenger window was not folding into place over the steel structure. I just back up the top and made sure the fabric unfolded and all was well.

01 m3 convertible top slow or needs manual help
Hi, the convertable hood motor is located inside the boot on the left hand side under the trim panel , once this is removed you will see a grey coloured foam insulation , the motor is housed in this , to check the fluid level , with the roof closed the resivior sould be approxamately 3/4 full . if this is low check for leaks on the pipe work under the storage compartment lid , hope this helps regards mark

My convertible top will not close lock and slow to come up
This is a VERY common problem with these xk convertibles. The most common is the fluid thickens up and the motor has trouble moving the top up and down. What you have to do is perform a convertible fluid flush, which is a pretty difficult task. Jaguar has updated fluid for this flush but it cost like 90 buck a quart, luckily you only need one but its pretty labor intensive. If your look at a dealership to perform this repair is pretty expensive.
