1989150 5spd hung in reverse. before it hung every gear worked fine

If your linkage is jammed also then that's the problem but if you can freely move it to another position and your clutch is working properly disconnect the linkage and manually try to move the pawl with the wheels blocked emergency brake on engine off if it's stuck you might have been rolling foward when you put it in reverse and this jammed the reverse you can try to do it by taking out the drive shaft have someone depress the clutch and try to turn the output shaft with a pipe wrench wrapping the out put shaft with rubber so you don't damage the splines on it tighten the pipe wrench as much as you can with vise grips to get the rubber to grip the splines the pipe wrench and a long piece of pipe will give you the leverage you need to try to free up the sincros if it's possible are you sure your clutch is working properly and is the linkage jammed to check as stated before first but this is an old truck 30-31 years by door sticker date and if you were rolling fowarded when you put it in reverse you might have snapped the sincros inside

Cable to hood release is completely gone..is there any way to open it?? battery is dead so cnt b taken anywher..

Don't know your make and model. Don't know what "completely gone" means, but if you can find the broken cable clamp it with some vice grips and give it a pull. Might just open it for you.

Frozen emergency brake on the right rear wheel...what do I do to free it up?

the best way is to replace the rear cable assembly (on both sides) .. a temporary way to rescue the car .. is to first release the emergency brake .. then use a vice grip to grip the cable itself (not the housing) then tap the vice grips with a small hammer to drive the cable back into the housing that goes into the brake area .. you can use a little penetrating oil between the cable and housing (under rubber seal if any) .. but be careful not ot get any in the brake area .. once you have tapped the cable back into place, that will release the brake and permit driving until proper repairs can be made .. if someone puts the emergency brake on then you will have to start over .. if one side is frozen then the other is not far behind .. you can remove, clean and relube the cables but its usually easier to just replace them ..
