Start with the battery. It must have at least 10.6 volts under load to turn over the starter.

Tapping the starter does not always work. I would check all the connections on the battery and starter. If these are good replace the starter. Don't forget the grounds.

SOURCE: 1999 gmc suburban fuel pump

I had the same problem with my 99 suburban. There was a memo sent out by GM to all of the service shops that tell them when you replace the fuel pump or just desconnect it you need to replace the pigtail wiring harness that connects to the pump or it will burn up the new pump. I went through 3 pumps before I found this out after I replace the pigtail it fixed the problem.

It sounds like you have a security problem, I had the same thing it would fire and run for half of a second and then that was it if anything at all. Had the security system rebooted, now it starts and runs fine.

SOURCE: 1999 GMC Suburban. no sound from radio

there is a plug at the back of the radio connecting it to the vehicle wiring loom. If you can get at thes plug, either from below or by removing the radio unit, make sure the plug is tight and secure. I can't think that the amp has gone or you would have lost all sound, so this is more than likely the problem.

SOURCE: my 1999 volvo s80 won't start. turn the key

On your year there would be something , like cranking , if the security is set. I would start with checking the fuses and then work my way to the starter relay. then I would go to the starter.

1999 Suburban passlock security

Not sure I am following you.
The security system is supposed to keep the engine from cranking if the correct key is not used.
The check gauge and charging light would be on until the engine starts.
You have checked fuel pressure with a gauge and you know the line is not pressurized when you crank the engine ?

1999 GMC Suburban K2500 7.4L 4x4 starting problems

I the fuses and relays are good for the pump it could be a bad pump especialy if you was having starting problems make sure you have power to the pump. Also do this before changing pump. Put your key in turn it on dont start wait 10 mins remove key wait 10 seconds repeat this a total of 3 times. If that dont work try a different key do the same thing. This relearns your key to the ignition it started with Gm cars and trucks from 1999 to to 2006. It is a big problem but there is no recall that I know of. If that dont work a dealer needs to probably replace and reprogram your ignition switch and keys

I may not be all the way in park or the safety neutral switch in not working. Did you try and start it in Neutral? Also move your shifter around while the key is engauged and see if it will start.

How to reset the change oil light on a 2003 chevy silverado

Information courtesy of synthetic-direct.ca
Chevrolet Suburban/GMC Yukon XL, 2000-05 Chevrolet GMC Trucks Silverado, Sierra, 1999-05 Chevrolet Venture 2000
Turn the ignition key to the RUN position. Fully push and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. If the CHANGE OIL SOON light flashes 2 times, the system is reset. However if the light comes on and stays on for 5 seconds, the system did not reset. Repeat the procedure if the system does not reset.
Best of luck.
