Choke may not be working!

remove air filter to see the choke make sure its free by moving the throttle & the choke butterfy together

check the wire is connected to the heater element on the side of the carb

watch the carby top & open throttle a few time to see if its spaying fuel in if not then it may be the pump draining back

sart engine & see if choke heater is getting warm & moving the choke butterfly

if not getting warm then check voltage at the wire with ignition on

    Cheers rob

How to line crank and cam for timing belt on 1988 no crank marks

Hard to explain here... but I believe that car also has the balance shaft which needs to be timed as well. The camshaft has 2 lines which line up to the top of the head, and a "up" or "top" mark at the top.
Crank is set to 0 degrees.

Timing or ecu throwing a code

easiest way to check for a broken timing belt is to look into the oil fill hole on valve cover and have someone crank engine. see if you can see the cam move. if not moving, timing belt is broken. if it is moving it is not broken but still may be off a tooth or more. at that point you will need to remove timing covers and check timing marks. these cars are very simple and you can learn alot by spending 20 bucks on a basic haynes type repair manual.

1989 Honda CRX won't start after a short trip.

Easy one. This is a common problem on 88-91 Civics and CRX's.Check your main relay under the drivers side dash.It provides power to the ECU,fuel pump, and injectors. Its a squarish box with a single plug going into it held on by one 10 mm bolt. The solder joints break down over time and cause the condition you're having. You can pry off the plastic cover and resolder the joints if you are handy with a soldering iron,or just ask for a main relay at Autozone, etc.
