Remove the switch panel and check to see there is 12V power there.. If there is Push the switch and see if the power comes out of it to drive the motor, if the power is not present check the wire back looking for the short.. usually if the power is missing none of the windows will work. look where the wires come out the door post to the door. look at fuses, If there is power and it does not come through the switch when you push the switch. the switch might be bad. in which case jump the switch to roll window up and buy a new switch (rock auto.com) if you apply 12v power and the window still will not go up.. you will need to replace the motor. not a hard job. you must remove door panel and remove regulator and motor and replace and reinstall. either junk yard part, craigslist part or new at Rock auto.. Post a comment and let us know what happens.
Your driver's window glass may have come off the regulator mechanism.
If electric window control
The glass may have detached from the regulator or the regulator cable has unwound itself off the mechanism (ie tension during upward motion, but loose when motor stops winding).
Your driver's door panel will need to be removed to inspect your window regulator operation.
Possibly, could just be out of the front track. Could also have broken or loose parts. Almost better to have a pro do it if your not familiar< you can really mess up the door panel if not knowledgeable with removal, and that can cost you more than a pro repair. If you elect to do it yourself, get back to me with questions, and I'll try to walk you through. Good luck.
Battery Disconnect Window Reset Procedure: Roll window all the way down ( in first position), then roll window all the way up. When you reach the top, press and hold the switch down for 3-5 seconds. Roll window all the way down (again), press and hold the switch down for 3-5 seconds. The window should roll up and down normally. Repeat the same steps for ALL the window switches.
The window position is monitered by the softop control module. It sounds like the glass is very dirty and drawing too much amperage during window operation. The soft top is electro hydraulic. The roll bar is operated normally with hydraulics but it is mechanically released in an emergency situation. 1st make sure your windows are clean and the express(one touch operation) is working-the soft top will not function properly if the windows are not synchronized. Next be sure your roll bar works-hold swith in up position to lock roll bar rams in if they have been deployed. next put your top all the way up. untill windows roll up and try it with the engine running and trans in nuetral- if it still does not work mechanically secre rear of top with tool provided in your tool kit the owner's manual will tell you how to do this. good luck
I have the same problem, its more than likely a sticking motor. I just punch the door panel below the window switch (where the motor is) and it works. You may have to bang it a few times but i have to do it about once a week on the front right or my car.
