It is recommended that the engine ECU is reset after any engine performance modifications have been made to the vehicle, including using a higher octane fuel, to accelerate the learning of any new parameters. Resetting the ECU will also clear any stored error codes, however if you have a fault with your vehicle it is advisable that these codes are retrieved rather than wiped as they may help in diagnosing the problem.

  1. Make sure the ignition is turned off
  2. Remove the engine bay fuse box cover
  3. Remove the 20Amp/25Amp EFI fuse
  4. Remove the 15Amp ETCS fuse
  5. Wait 30 seconds
  6. Re-insert the two fuses
  7. Install the fuse box cover

It is also possible to reset the engine ECU by removing the battery. Please note that this method will also reset any memory settings such as radio presets, trip mileage, clock etc.

Good luck... and remember rated this help!!

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 won't start.

You may have pulled a fuse on the security system and immobilizer. If that is the case, you need to reset.

BMW 740il no spark to plugs drove the car for 2 days checked the cam position sensor and it was dirty I cleaned it and it still wouldn't fire what do I do I checked the fuses and none are blowed

Check your battery, those I believe have 2. Check the connection of the battery. If it’s nasty and whitish and green, get a metal brush and clean everything. Of course unplug the battery terminals first! Anyways, make sure you check to make sure you replaced both batteries because I’m pretty sure there’s one under the hood, but also in the trunk. Each controls totally different things, but both are needed to start the vehicle. Under the hood battery supplies power to certain engine computer components and exterior lighting, and the trunk battery supplies power to most interior controls, and even some engine components.

Also, check your ignition coils too. Make sure they are in the correct firing order and are all good too. Double check your work. I’d need a bit more info, but, does the car try to start and just won’t turn over? OR, you try and absolutely nothing happens?

These aren’t the most reliable cars, just being real with you. I’ve seen problems with fuel management in the 7 series in general too, so maybe last resort check into that.

Hope this helps you man. Good luck with the 740iL

IS 200 wont start, no dash lights, no radio,

You should have power to the dash if the key switch is working.
The main fuse would kill everything in the car.
Depending on how it happened, I would check the fuses and then check for voltage at the key switch.

I hav a 2001 olds alero 2.4l runs fine but after 20 miles dwn da road it stall n then ces n trac off light *** on thn goes off n bout 15 mins afta dun had it checked numerous of times.wat is my probelm?

First you need to get the trouble code from compute,my wild guess would be mass air flow sensor.Take sensor off and clean it with a non-chlronated brake cleaner put it back on then reset computer.Make sure you get the codes out of the computer first.

This car has an electrical problem. When you turn hard left the idiot lights on the dash all light up....you must turn the car off and restart it and everything is back to normal. Well now it seems...

check to make sure your battery is bolted down securely and its possible that when you throw it hard left its moving around and you"ve loosened the battery cables.
