Center console or drivers. It\'s most like driver and you simply have a burned out light. However replacing it is a pain in most cars. You usually can not just reach behind like with tail lights but have to remove the whole lower panel. It least it not a Prizm. To change it bulbs you have to remove the glove box console, then the drivers side console just to remove the center console. I gave up and used heavy duty Velcro to hold a cigarette lighter powered LED light above the radio to light up the center console. You might try something similar for you dashboard. Also, just make sure they are not turned down since their brightness is adjustable.
i had that problem . i just pulled the light bulbs . no bulbs, no draining battery . unless you want to replace the door buttons and the overhead light . that might solve the short but until you do just pull the bulbs . hope that helps . Carrson
There are two types of overhead consolse on this truck. One has a storage compartment connected to the map light section, and one with a seperate removable section behind the map lights that has a lever on both sides that can be pulled down. If you have the levers, pull them both down at once and pull the section off the rail. Then insert a screw driver between the rail and the map light assembly at the rear, and gently pry down. If you don't have the side levers, insert a screw driver at the rear of the assembly and gently pry down the entire section. Once removed, press the tab down on the power connector for the wiring harness (white connector whth four wires) remove it, and remove the assembly. You will see two black connectors that hold the bulbs. Remove them by twising counter clockwise, and pull out the bulbs. Replace them with the 900 series bulb, or LED bulbs. Once the bulbs are back in place, reconnect the power connector, and gently tap the assembly back in place with the palm of your hand to reseat the clips. Caution!, test the bulbs before you put the assembly back in place. LEDs are polarity sensitive.
The bulbs is replaced from the back of the overhead console with 1/4 turn bulb holders.
the overhead console ( non rail version ) is held up with spring clips.
Open the rear compartment, and grab the rear corners and pull down 1 at a time. They are very hard to pull the 1st few times. Once you have the read released, there is another set of spring clips in the front, so be careful how far down you pull the rear, until the front is released.
Once you can see the back of the overhead console, you will see the 1/4 turn bulb holders for the map and interior lights.
There are spring clips holding the console to the roof.
Open the compartment, and grasp each corner, and pull down. This will take a moderate amount of pull to release the spring clips.
There are 4 or 6 spring clips holding the console to the ceiling, at the least the center spring clips will release when you pull down on the rear. remove the front held in place by the spring clips. There are 2 connectors for the overhead console, these have ~ 6" if slack in them.
From this point, you can remove the connectors, or you will see the gray bulb holders for the map / interior lamps. These are 1/4 twist bulb holders.
Hi, By map lights I assume you mean the ones at the top of the windsheild on the ceiling? They are easy, but it takes a lot of force to pry the assembly from the ceiling without damaging anything. First make sure they are not hot, so make sure the ones you touch have been off for at least a few minutes. The whole assembly comes off of the ceiling, just pry back the edges to get a good grip and pull down. It should come straight off. Then pull the old bulbs, wipe the new ones and install them with a lint free cloth. The light cluster will press back up into the ceiling. For the ash tray light, it gets a bit more complicated. The light is under the center console. With the gray interior in my car, the console top is black, and that's what you're prying up. You can pull (pry) the center console straight up, and tilt it to the side, where you can look in from the side and get to the bulb. It's a little thing just where you think it would be. Again, install without getting oils or fingerprints on it, and if you do, wipe them off. The console will press back down with a little wiggling.
To change the bulbs for the map lights you need to first remove the screw located on the overhead console which is towards the front of the console (towards the front window). Then you need to pry down on the rear of the console. Once the console is removed you then need to remove the map light bulbholders and replace the bulbs.
As for the bulbs for the ashtray I am not sure if there is one.
Map light stay on.
