SOURCE: Chevrolet Malibu 2001 Transmission Flush or not
75,000 miles isnt alot of miles, unless they were mostly city miles. If you aren't experiencing any transmission problems,i would drop the pan, change the filter and whatever fluid the pan holds, and hold off on flushing the entire sytem. The clutches and bands sometimes don't do well when shocked with ALL new fluid that contains a certain amount of detergent. The only real problems i have seen with the total flush is on Dodge trucks of the 90's up to even 2000 and some later models, the transmissions use a governor pressure sensor, and solenoid, and i have seen many of them set codes after the flush, and the components having to be replaced with new.Black fluid isn't a good indicator.Brown fluid,is better than black. And red fluid is the best.

When the system is on or off, push the ON/OFF button down for three seconds to change the display between English and metric. This will also change the digital screen for the climate control system between English and metric.

pop the trunk and you should see two screws along the rear taillight assembly. remove the screws and the taillight assembly should pop out. you can then twist the bulb and pop it out along with the harness, put the new bulb in and reverse.
If it's your 3rd brake light, the bolts holding it in against the rear window will be found inside your trunk along the top side of your trunk (get in and look up)

Good Evening, I have a dumb question. have you cleared any current or history codes in the transmission? They will default with codes in the system. Also make note on what they are. If any and we can go from there, and yes tcm would be the next place to go but more info is best as far as codes and such.
