You dont. it has a "sealed" transmission. however where the dipstick should enter the trans case there is a plug. if car is off warranty GM will put a dipstick on for you.
THERE IS NO WAY THAT YOU CAN CHECK IT BUT ONLY A FEW CARS CAME UP WITH A BOLT ON THE TOP OF THE TRANSMISSION AND YOU CAN CHECK IF IT DOES HAVE OIL
SOURCE: 1999 Chevy Malibu how many quarts of transmission fluid does it
12.9 Quarts of DEXRON®-VI Automatic Transmission Fluid
SOURCE: Transmission fluid type and level
This is complicated.... Ok, your right, no dip stick is there! This is how it works.
Underneath the car, there is a plug (11mm) on the transmission case on the passenger side. It is about 3" up from the pan edge and on the front side of the case. With the engine running in PARK, remove this plug. If trans fuild doesn't run out of the hole, the level is low. Pour it in the hole on top (where the red cap is) until the fluid runs out - all while the car is running. Once it is roughly dribbling out, the trans is considered full. replace plug. Your done!!
Easy ehh? Dexron III fluid
SOURCE: 99 Chevy Malibu - auto trans - no dipstick
You have what is called a closed cased transmission. You have to crawl underneathe to get to the tranny and remove the upper bolt close to the side of the case (more towards the bottom of the transmission). When you fill it, you fill it till it starts to drip out of that hole.
