I have a 2000 BMW Z3 roadster. First the switch for the top to go down stopped working. It makes no noice when I push it. Now my brake lights don't work (all other lights work). Where is the fuse box? Could this be the problem?
This is a problem with your wiring harness near the cab/trunk line. I've been trying to diagnose my faulty top (looks like all mine is sensor problems) and I came accross this problem many times on bimmerfourms.com There is lots of useful information there.
There are a couple of relay switches in the side of the top on the driver's side. One of these is not working. Your break lights are out because of this too. You have to apply the brake to lower or raise the top.
