all these problems occur while the car is off. im unable to even start it now. would the alternator still come into play even when starting it?

It sounds like it has to be your battery because there is nothing else that would cause the symptoms that you are having. Did they actually test the battery at Auto Zone? If not I would suggest taking it to another auto parts store and having them test it for you and they will be able to tell you if the battery is good or not. More than likeyly you will find that it isn't good and they should replace it for you for free. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for using FixYa!

This problem sounds like the alternator is producing low voltage, this causes the battery voltage to drop, have you had the alternator tested? the alternator should produce at least 13.8 Volts under a system load of 75 amps and engine RPM at 1500. If u have a battery warning light on then the alternator or the wiring at the alternator is defective, also make sure te battery post are clean and with no corrosion and tight, make sure the battery ground cable has a good clean and tight connection to the engine, your problem is for sure one of the above problems.

Dome lights and power door locks no working on nissan sentra

Try disconnect negative battery cable for 10 seconds, then reconnect. In my case, after leaving lights on and draining battery, power locks on 2001 Sentra were not working, neither with remote fob or inside car. I have no idea why, but with above procedure, everything now works fine.

Headlamp replacement How do you get the old bulb out?

According to Nissan PDFs on line, it seems pretty straight forward, although it seems pretty cramped around the headlight assemblies (go figure...) For the driver's side, it recommends removing the battery to make some room in the 2004 book (I would agree, after seeing mine). For all, it recommends at least removing the negative battery cable.
It states several times NOT TO TOUCH THE BULB. The grease from your fingers will reduce the life of the bulb, if not damage it immediately.

I pasted the links for the PDFs below- one for the 2002 and one for the 2004. I can't wait to tackle mine in -20 weather.
Oh yeah- you will have to re-program your radio after disconnecting the battery.
Update: (Dec. 29/07) I changed mine today, and it was very easy.
1. Remove battery for driver's side bulb.
2. Unplug electrical connection to bulb. There is a locking clip that you depress with your thumb to unlock the connection to the bulb casing.
3. Turn the locking collar counterclockwise to unlock, and remove.
4. Remove dead bulb.
5. After comparing the bulbs to make sure they match, holding the new bulb by the plastic casing at the rear, insert the new bulb making sure the notches seat into the seating tabs. Remember- DON'T TOUCH THE BULB!
6. Re-install the locking collar clockwise, and the electrical connection plug.
7. Re-install the battery for driver's side installation. (Might be a good time to clean the posts if they are corroded.)
8. Test the bulb. Re-set your clock and re-tune the radio.

UPDATE- with small enough hands, you do not have to disconnect the battery. This is a wasted step.
ANOTHER UPDATE: I just used these instructions, and they were very good, but for older Sentras it's a little different.

On a 1996 there is no "clicking" mechanism to turn counter clockwise. Instead there is a wire holder keeping the bulb in place. You have to remove the wire holder, and then you can pull out the bulb in its holder. On the holder there was a plastic piece marked "press here" which when pressed, allows you to pull the old bulb out of the holder.

Hope helped (remember rated this help).

Cant seem to find anyone selling 'new' ignition modules for a 95 nissan sentra. the forum that Im a member of says that this is what I need to change in the distributor. Ive searched in the internet only

All auto parts stores sell only "new" modules. I have never ever heard of anyone selling a rebuilt module. I have seenn on a few fouriegn cars were you can only get a rebuilt distributor in order to get a module for a car, but they do come with the new module. So as long as you are going to a wel known parts supplier such as O'reilly, you should be fine.

1995 Nissan Sentra, The engine light and brake

You could have faulty altenator or short causing the battery to drain. The engine light usually comes on when anything electrical or sensor wise is faulty. Brake light will come on if, low brake fluid, e-brake handle is up.
