My civic automatic transmission Slips - 1997 Honda Civic

have transmission sensors & switches checked (dealer)

Well Katie, I don't want ruin your day, but your trans is failing. Not much you can do at this point except have it repaired/replaced. Honda's very rarely have electrical/control issues with their transmissions. Typically problems are due to a clutch pack or bearing failure, that contaminates the fluid and causes valves in the valve body to stick. Civics in particular are prone to forward clutch pack failures.

Probably need a change of ATF and a new filter.

I think you mean the distributor ignition module
If you have an automatic transmission it probably
a vacuum advance valve/Sensor hose may be missing or
defective.You can probably find the manual at your local
library

Duh! Tranny is shot!
