If ECU has crank signal and engine turns over, ECU should give injectors a pulse and trigger the ignition. If not ECU might be bad. You should check power and grounds going to ECU. There are usually multiple power and grounds going into ECU
Try gently moving the shifter around while cranking the engine (while in the park position). There is a sensor in the J-shift that will prevent the proper voltage from reaching the main computer if it is out of adjustment. This problem drove me nuts until I figured it out. I would start and run fine, then it was like the fuel pump went out. Good Luck (I know it's an old post but it might help someone)
first check fuel pressure. then check for ignition fire to spark plugs. the check for injector pulse. see which one is not available then post your results.
It sounds like the (iac valve) idle air controle valve. When its running unplug it and if the truck shuts off replace the iac. it runs about $50 to $60
