How do I locate the Engine Speed Sensor on a 2004 Nissan Altima 2.. I had the SES diagnosed stating code po725. However, I have been unable to locate the sensor to check to see if it is just loose or needs to be replaced. The SES light came on, and now I'm having difficulty starting after the engine has been running a while.

SOURCE: 2003 Nissan Altima 2.5S, Check Engine Light Problem.

this problem could be caused by the mass air flow censor, i had the same problem with my car. it is really pricey at the dealer so you might want to check elsewhere for this part. I found one at a scrap yard for 85% less that the dealer and i also got life time warranty, the dealer does not offer any warranty on this part.

Where is the speed sensor located on a 2005 nissan altima?

if you have a po725 fault code"engine speed signal" this would be an indication of a bad crankshaft sensor.the good news is it's only 50.00.the bad news is it is a pain the *** to replace!it is located on the firewall side of engine block above oilpan rail by trans bell housing.i replace them from the top reaching down but its all feel...cant see anything.if its the vehicle speed sensor in the trans your after this is about 150.00 and is located in final drive section of trans right above the drivers side inner c/v joint.much easier to replace.hope this helped...let me know.

I have a 2005 Altima 2.5 94k miles and service engine light stays on. Trouble code stated that vss needs replacing. Where is it located. The car dies at any speed. help.

It is a vehicle speed sensor. It will cause many various problems other than your issue but definitely is what is causing yours.I am not familiar with all makes and models so I am including a link to assist you.The link is actually a google search page which I set up for you and includes locations and images. The first couple actually are links back to this site, but the others will be much more helpful.Good luck,Greg There is also a Nissan forum, but relates more to an ABS problem someone posted, although ABS could also be affected.

2005 nissan almera,1.5letre.. fault code po725

P0725 NISSAN - Engine Speed Signal

The P0725 Codes is triggered when TCM does not receive the engine speed signal from ECM.

The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the engine speed through the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor with the engine running, and send signal to the Transmission Control Module (TCM).

Symptoms:
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

Possible causes:
- Open or shorted CKP sensor circuit condition
- Poor CKP sensor electrical connection
- Check communication error between the ECM and TCM
- Failed CKP Sensor

Possible solution:
Very common problem with Nissan vehicles, usually replacing the Crankshaft Position sensor takes care of the problem.

Trouble codes PO725 and PO335, car jerks hard during steady speeds on highway intermitently I am told the speed sensor by local parts stores and a revolution sensor by my local dealer. I am not sure which...

Nissan has reproduced the crank sensors installed in all altimas 2004 and up. it was deffective. Its also sort of difficult to access. take off the intake tube, dissconnect the throttle body connector. and reach to the bottom of the engine right next to the motor mount.take the connector off and see if the feel for oil. There will most likely be oil on the connector. Replace sensor
