The way this could happen is a leaking exhaust.

This engine has an electric fuel pump, this pump is most likely defective. To replace the pump you must remove the gas tank, the pump is inside the gas tank.

Remove the timing belt cover and you will see the water pump. Actually it driven by the timing belt pully

Hi this van has a lot of hose in that area you have to take apart the filter housing and look in closer if it's behind the fan then it could be the water pump good luck

You can get to it from the inside but it is a lot of work remove the kick pannel to get to the scres to drop the drain pan. Also try removing the glove box you may be able to get to it from there. You may have dropped something in the drain pan threw the vent holes.
