2000 Dodge Ram cargo van trouble starting and once started will not keep running tried jumping battery and no change what should we try next?

Sounds like the alternator is bad (not charging). If your battery is good/charged it should run until the battery is drained. If the battery is bad/not charged the car will die as soon as the cables are taken off as there is not enough juice to run the ignition system. If the alternator is good (but battery bad) the car would still run as the alternator makes power to run the car but becasue the battery is dead/drained there is no power to start the car (hense needing the jump). Have the alternator/charging system tested

2000 dodge 1500 5.2 ram van wont start with jump or with just batt new distrib and rotor, position sensor, crankshaft position sensor battery and alt are ok

I assume you checked and are missing spark?

have you unplugged the cam sensor and tried to start?

have the fuel pressure and volume checked as if its out of range it can cause this type of problem,also if the fuel filter is plugged it can cause this as well.have a tech try to start it when cold with a scanner on it this may show what is happening or if there is a code in the computer.

1983 ramcharger is really hard to start but runs great once started untill you turn it off then same problem. if i spray starter spray in the carb it may start and it may not ,,any sugestions

i have a 85 power ram that does the same thing I finally figured mine out.... does it act like the battery is dead when trying to start or does it just keep turning over and over but no fire??

Replaced fuel pump, thermostate, and rebuit carb on 83 dodge b150 ram van with a 318. Van is really hard to start but runs like new once it does untill you turn it off then same problem. any sugestions

do you have a lean burn ignition ?

Sounds like the IAC sensor is bad..Try this when it doesnt start instead of pumping it which wont do anything because its computer controlled hold the gas pedal to the floor.If it start its the idle air control located on the throttle plate..So rememeber the day it doesn't start hold gas pedal to floor and start it.If nothing we have different problems..Let me know and I will guide you through next steps....
