It is a common problem with the connectons in the ignition. The contacts inside the ignition are made out of brass. (which is a soft metal with great conductive properties) and the contacts on the diode are stainless steel. you will either need to get a whole igniton and key from the dealer, or get a mechanic to by pass the security system. there should be some wires on the under side of the steering column. cut the right one and like majic your car will start. this goes for all gm cars with that diode in the key.

2008 polaris trail boss will not start from ignition switch but will start by jumping solenoid ,new key switch installed

If your 2008 Polaris Trail Boss is not starting from the ignition switch but starts when you jump the solenoid, there are a few possible causes for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow:
1. Check the ignition switch: Even though you mentioned that you installed a new key switch, it's still worth verifying that the ignition switch is functioning correctly. Make sure it is properly connected and that the contacts inside the switch are not worn out or damaged.
2. Inspect the wiring: Examine the wiring harness connected to the ignition switch, solenoid, and starter. Look for any loose, corroded, or damaged wires that could be causing a poor connection or preventing the signal from reaching the solenoid when you turn the key to the "crank" position. Repair or replace any faulty wiring as necessary.
3. Test the solenoid: Even though you mentioned that the machine starts when you jump the solenoid, it's still worth testing the solenoid itself. Using a multimeter, check if the solenoid is receiving power when the key is turned to the "crank" position. If there is no power, the issue could be with the ignition switch, wiring, or a related component.
4. Verify the starter: Ensure that the starter motor is in good working condition. If the solenoid is receiving power, but the starter motor does not engage when you turn the key to the "crank" position, the starter motor itself may be faulty and need to be replaced.
5. Check the battery: A weak or discharged battery can also cause starting issues. Make sure the battery is fully charged and in good condition. Clean the battery terminals and ensure they are securely connected.
If you've followed these steps and are still experiencing difficulties, it may be helpful to consult a professional mechanic or a Polaris dealer who can diagnose and resolve the specific issue with your ATV.

1999 Ford Explorer won't start has power no crank replaced battery still nothing.

Look in the underhood fuse block for the starter relay, remove the relay and find the numbers 30 and 87 use a short piece of 16 gauge or larger wire to jump these together and if the starter is OK it will crank if not first check the battery cables (both ends of each please) and if OK replace the starter. I hope this helps. Take care. I hope your treatment work, My wife went through it 3 times and has very little left to remove. If I can be of any more help use testimonial to send me a note and it will show up in my email.

Suzuki Vitara no power to starter, every thing else electrical works.

2000 VIT (which engine, 1.6L 2.0L?) what transmission, A/T or M/T
auto or stick?
chip, what chip.>??? there is no starter chip
the NO Crank this is called.
did use jumper cable jump , off a running good car? yet.
this is the #1 first check.
(starter motor work now? yes, bad battery or simply discharged)
jumper starts, dead? that means we need to do test 2.
we hot wire the starter, motor solenoid.
jump tiny wire to big lug there.
it cranks fast, (wont start, keys are in pocket for safety) yes? good
no crank hot wired is a bad starter or seized engine. (turn engine by hand?)
yes, cranks hot wired.
that means the KEY line is dead. (bad PRNDL or bad Clutch switch)
if input to above switch is bad the ignition key switch is bad.
some VIt have an immoblizer. so the light for it must not glow. if opted.
see the tricks section !!!

the below shows all possible test. and all ways to fail and how to find it.

Car won't start without a jump but battery okay

wont crank or wont start.??
no car starts , if it cant crank. (unless push starter (M/T magic)
that is not a trans sensor its the PRN switch.
ill answer for, wont CRANK !
it wont crank even with a good battery (charged) or jump started.
1: bad start
2: bad wires to same.
so hot wire the starter small wire, the key start line is tiny.
cranks. , starter good, no crank starter bad or cables bad.
if it cranks hot wired, then the key line is dead.
easy, huh?

2004 chevy tahoe won't turnover or start by being jumped

The ignition start circuit is the path from the ignition key in cranking mode to the solenoid on the starter. The path travels through a starter relay and a neutral safety switch before it reaches the starter.
This must be the circuit not working on your car.Make sure battery and starter connections are tight.Check for power at the starter solenoid terminal with a testlight when someone turns key to crank. If you have power there, they sold you a defective starter. If you have no power there then it could be the relay or the neutral safety switch.

I just installed fuel pump in my 2002 ford escape the pump now work but the egine will not roll over but the battery is fine i out in my new car and it started that

There are several possible issues depending on what you have happening such as - is it cranking over or not. Ford used their wonderful passive security systems on these years of vehicles which can be a real pain. If you use a test light and are getting power to the starter switch (small wire on starter solenoid) when friend turns key to start but it is still not turning over then starter is not functioning. If your interior lights and dash lights all work when key is turned to on but everything goes off when you turn key to "start" position try cleaning battery terminals. If terminals clean or even better if terminals clean and you jump with jump box or jumper cables and it still not cranking check with test light as mentioned above and if no power to start switch check relay in underhood fuse box. Swap the "starter" one with one from fan or other of same size and see if starter will now turn. If you can turn the key on and hear the fuel pump turn on (buzz or whine from rear) and the engine cranks over trying to start but will not - it may be the passive security system. The chip in key or the reader for it may have died. Each key is $75+ and if you do not have two good keys they (Ford Dealer) will charge you for making two keys and activation fees - Total $300 - plus getting the vehicle towed in. The vehicles computer tests many sensors before letting vehicle actually start so it is normal for it to crank for a few seconds before it actually fires. If it senses something wrong in that first few turns like no crank or cam sensor reading it will not allow vehicle to start. You can read codes with a code reader for this by testing with key on and not running.

Same problem

make sure you have the proper battery with the right amount of cranking amps because if your car doesnt have the right amount your car will act like it'll crank but it wont and as long as the car is cold the car will crank with no problem until the car warms up sounds like you may just need a new battery
