Volvo T5 estate will not start (starter motor wont turn with key)

I have a Volvo T5 estate 1995/6 N reg it has been standing a year and now fails to start the only different thing noticeable is a downwards arrow showing on the dash display.(some kind of gearbox indication I understand) The immobiliser has been removed. An engineer has bypassed something and the car runs fine but in the normal run of things it just wont go, you can hear the initial fuel supply running for a timed period. He says it is some inhibitor preventing the starter motor from getting power as by bypassing this is does start normally and runs fine and even drives ok. Help please any one that has experience of or knowledge about these type of problems or has had similar themselves Thanks in advance for reading this.

SOURCE: 1985 Volvo 240 no fuel no spark

well first the fuel pump relay is bad, that is easily replaced. next you have no spark. the first thing you do is take the cap off the distributerand crank the engine. if it spins that tell syou thyat at least the tang or gear on the shaft of the distributor is ok and not broken. next thing is remove the #1 plug and use a 1/4 drive extension 6" long and turn the crank by hand until the #1 cylinder is top dead center(put the extension in the hole of head where the plug was and you should feel the top of the piston also make sure you can feel the top of the piston with half the extension this way you don't drop it in the cylinder with the piston at TDC(top dead center) the rotor of the distributor should be pointed at the #1 firing position. IF it does not that means your timing is off and you need to retime it by taking off timing cover and either replacing the belt/chain or gears. now if you do not have a distributor and you have a coil pack there could be only 2 things that won't give spark. either a bad coil or your altenater is bad(the battery is responsible for starting not running the vehicle like alot of people assume. the altenator energizes the coil which inturngives spark. hope this helps you please rate this thanks

SOURCE: everytime i unlock my ford

firstly please specify year ,53 whatever means nothing as were not all in a third world muslim controlled state ,now this problem is a ford dealer only as the software is encrypted and as your in this country that allows the use of encrypted software on motor vehicles so only the dealer can read the OBDII with no freedom of information act you will just have to grin and bear it ,also complain to your EEC parliament member about this state of afffairs of encrypted software on your motor vehicle

Volvo oil trap recall

If Volvo customer service deny there is a recall it is possibly something that has been misreported or misunderstood or perhaps it doesn't apply to vehicles in your country or region.
If in doubt I suggest you contact a motoring forum or a motoring organisation or any big newspaper or magazine with interests in consumer rights and/or motoring.

2005 volvo s40 t5 spins over great but wont start. hear some whinning noise and clicking uner the hood. any help?

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

MY 1995 volvo has power but wont start

volvo 1995 850 glt- same problem- turn key no crank no noise.
lights on dash come on.
1.) removed battery ground wire for 2 minutes.
2.) took wire to ground and moved to back of battery and jiggled it around
3.) connected battery
4.) car starts up-
Not starter,not solenoid,not battery,not ignition switch

ANSWER-Ground wire to chasis not getting good contact- replace battery ground cabel and make a better connection to the chassis.

Hope this is it- my car has had this happen for an extended period of time- have not found complete resolution to date- Please let me know when you find a solution.-JMM

2000 reg clio 1.2 and SOMETIMES it will not start.

Hi, if when you turn the key to start the car the engine dont turn over as if its trying to start then this indicates that you have a problem with your starter motor it is the selanoid on the starter starting to fail

Sometimes it will turn the engine over starting the car and other times it will do nothing and you might here a slight clocking noise coming from the starter motor.

If your battery is ok and holds the charge ie the lights are bright without the car running then this indicates that your battery is ok and that the starter needs replacing. Sometimes you can get away with giving the starter motor a few taps with a hammer this sometimes clears any muck inside the starter selonoid getting it working for a bit longer but eventually it wont work at all so its best ot get this done sooner rather that later.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
