If it cranks and cranks then finally starts and slowly picks up speed you may have a leaking fuel pressure regulator, unfortunately this truck has an injection system know as the "spider" and everything including the regulator is under the upper intake manifold so you can't see it leak. GM makes a kit that replaces the spider and poppet setup with real injectors and I think it comes with a regulator. Do this, find the injection test port left rear of the air intake remove the plastic cap then have someone turn the ignition switch on to prime the system then press the schraeder valve and notice how much gas sprays out, next prime the system again but this time wait 5 minutes then press the schraeder again and the spray should be the same if there's little or no fuel coming out replace the regulator and I advise changing the injection system over. You need to check components again when the engine is hot and in no-start condition, otherwise, you will get bad info...obviously whichever part is doing this works fine cold. ones that react most to heat are crank pickup, ignition coil and the fuel pump.(bad ones get hot and bind up)

I had the same problem , and if you read your book, it could be the fuel pump shut off switch, mine was bad and went from on to off position, its usually under the passenger side of the dash, look underneath at the "top" of the carpet, and you'll see a little red switch, check to see if the thing is plugged in , if it is , check to see if the switch is all the way down. i had to get a new one , sombody must have kicked mine and made it broken, but i got a new one and it worked fine

My 1988 300 E stops running after 10 min and will not start for 30 min. when cranking the motor to start it sounds like the timing is off

I have a 2001 honda civic if i try to start it without pressing the gas pedal which seems to be sticking it will not crank it makes no noise whatsoever

Low fuel pressure or problem with spark plugs or crank sensor is got dirty and needs cleaning or its time to replace crank sensor.

What you describe sounds more like a faulty ignition switch than an engine problem.

Runs fine for approx 15 mins,then stalls out and wont start again

sounds like coil problem, coils will start cold then get hot and stop. when coil cools will crank up and run till it gets hot, try to replace the ignition coil,dont think it would be a crank sensor, try a coil,thanks robert b.
