SOURCE: Removal of Headlamp bulb?

The Xterra doesn't have stock xenon headlights, so are your lights aftermarket? If not, there is a retaining ring on the back of the headlight housing (under the hood) and you just turn the ring counter clockwise to detach and the the bulb comes right out. Installation is the reverse of removal.

SOURCE: tag light replacement

Push the entire assembly back into the cargo area of the vehicle - it is clipped to the frame. (You may need to use the blade of a screwdriver to pry it loose).

Remove the electrical feed cover (red plastic) from the assembly by depressing the side clip.

Now, holding the asssembly in your hands, remove the lense cover top from the black bottom by depressing the side inserts.

Pull out the bulb, and replace.

Reassemble in the reverse manner.

The entire job should take no more than 3 to 4 minutes.

Removing a 03 crv headlight assembly

After much research, and little info on "how-to", I replaced both stock 9006 low-beam bulbs on my 2004 Accord. Despite much info on removing fenderwell splash shields, I was able to open the hood, and reach the passenger side harness, remove plug, twist and remove bulb and reinstall- no problem. Driver's side required removing the battery, but same procedure. No problems, no cuts or bruises. Owners manual is unclear, Hayes 2003-05 Honda Accord repair manual is wrong, and the dealer charges $29.95 per bulb installed. Took me 10 minutes. Tried to save the radio settings with a 9V battery in the power plug (memory-saver) but that didn't work."

Good luck.

HEADLAMP BULB REPLACEMENT

  • Turn off the lamp switch and allow the bulb to cool before changing the bulb.

If either comes in contact with the bulb, clean the bulb with alcohol or a suitable degreaser and wipe the bulb dry.

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Remove the headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement .

My headlights dont work,.all other lights are fine though,.is it the fuses or the bulbs? im not sure what fuses they would be,.there seem to be different ones for the same thing

do your flash to pass lamps light when you pull the stalk towards you? If yes, the bulbs are ok.
Do the hig beams work?
Your headlamps have sepaerate fuses for each headlamp and you have a low beam relay and a high beam relay under the hood in the black box.
If everything is out, I suspect a bad headlamp switch.
Check car-part.com and look on page with * for cheapest price.

Your owner manual will identify fuses & relays.

PS, You did not recently instal high current bulbs did you? If yes, put originals back in.

HEADLAMPS

The voltage is supplied to the lamp switch through a fuse. This fuse is located in the central junction box in the left-hand footwell.
When the headlamps are switched on, a voltage is supplied to the high beam/low beam switch and to the low beam relay. The relay for the low beam is located in the battery junction box (BJB) in the engine compartment.
If the high beam/low beam switch is set to "low beam", then a voltage is supplied through the low beam relay to the low beam part of the headlamp assembly. The left and right-hand low beams are fused separately. The fuses are located in the battery junction box (BJB) in the engine compartment.
If the high beam/low beam switch is set to "high beam", then a voltage is supplied through the high beam relay to the high beam part of the headlamp assembly. The left and right-hand high beams are fused separately. The fuses are located in the battery junction box (BJB) in the engine compartment.
