SOURCE: What Happens When a Map Sensor Goes Bad on 2001

Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor controls fuel delivery and ignition timing, the pressure in the intake manifold will vary due to stress or work load, the MAP sensor monitors this, reporting to the computer. Good luck.

SOURCE: I have a 1999 Dodge Durango having problems

Wow...... You have covered many of the usual culprits in this situation. The majority of start but wont run issues are solved by new batteries on Chrysler products.

Two more things to look at:

Cleaning the throttle body to make sure it is not too gunked up, and also the IAB or IAC valve which is attached to the intake near the throttle body.

Either one being dirty can cause what you are seeing.

Could also be a PCM module which is the main computer for the engine also called the Powertrain Control Module.

SOURCE: How hard is it to replace the MAP sensor on a 2001 dodge durango?

VERY SIMPLE!!!!!

4.7L The MAP sensor is located on the front of the intake manifold. An O-ring seals the sensor to the intake manifold.

  1. Disconnect electrical connector at sensor.
  2. Clean area around MAP sensor.
  3. Remove 2 sensor mounting bolts.
  4. Remove MAP sensor from intake manifold.
To Install:
  1. Clean MAP sensor mounting hole at intake manifold.
  2. Check MAP sensor O-ring seal for cuts or tears.
  3. Position sensor into manifold.
  4. Install MAP sensor mounting bolts (screws). Tighten screws to 3 Nm (25 inch lbs..) torque.
  5. Connect electrical connector.

2000 Dodge Durango 5.2L V8 starts but won't run

By run - do you mean it dies when you put it in gear? Or that it just bogs down when you attempt to accelerate or drive away?
..
A plugged Catalytic converter will cause this. So will a Bad MAP or MAS (Mas Air ) sensor. So will a bad TPS (Throttle Position) sensor.
....
Need more input to answer more precisely.

My 1999 Dodge Durango all of a sudden will not shift out of 1st gear and is consequently eating up tons of gas. Can you help me fix this problem?

Have your mechanic check your map sensor and your vehicle speed sensor as they could possibly be the cause.

Hello, I'm currently living on Guam and cannot find a mechanic who can correct my 2001 Dodge Durango (with error code P 0108) probelm. It will occassionally idle rough and stall. At times the "check...

P0108 = MAP sensor circuit high voltage

The MAP sensor communicates the barometric pressure inside the intake manifold to the ecm.
This code can indicate either a fault in the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor, or a possible vacuum leak, either from a hose or the intake gasket.

It could be the connector on this sensor isn't making good contact. I would check the connector before you replace the sensor. It more than likely needs a new MAP sensor.
