Where is the fuel pressure test port on cadillac cts 07 the engine turns but will not run i hear the fuel pump running but i want to ck fuel pressure

Here are the usual suspects:
stuck fuel valve/float valve in the carburetor.
clogged fuel filter. or fuel line.
defective fuel pump.
electric fuel pump may be just a blown fuse, or wiring problem. good hunting.

You would need a voltmeter to diagnose the fuel pump circuit. Or you could put a fuel pressure gauge on the shrader valve test port to check fuel pressure. Just turning the key to on should cause the pump to run for 2 seconds, putting pressure in the lines and at the fuel rail and injectors. Now the pressure should show pretty high, often over 50 psi for multi port injection. Can you hear the hum or buzz of the pump running for 2 seconds with key turned to on? One test is to spray some starting fluid into the throttle (air) intake and see if engine fires on that. If it tries to run then, well sure enough it wasn't getting gas. Now you'll have to check the fuel pump and circuit.

When you open the gas cap, you relieve the pressure in the fuel system. Once you replace the cap, this pressure must be reestablished. All vehicles have a fuel system "prime" function that causes the fuel pump to run for about 3-5 seconds after turning the key to bring fuel pressure to the fuel rail. It sounds as though your system isn't getting enough pressure on the first prime, so you must cycle the key twice to get full pressure. It could be a sign of the fuel pump starting to fail.

The sound is the heater getting air in it from air in the cooling system. Have the system pressure tested for leaks.

could be many things... first of all does the gm 100,000 warranty apply to a caddilac? second of all sounds like you have a fuel delievery problem. could be an intermident fuel pump or more commonly a bad fuel line. when it doesnt start can you hear the fuel pump turn on when you turn the key to the on position? also could be clogged injectors. hope this helps~

The fuel pump is probably in the gas tank. You can check if the pump works by turning the key to on without starting the engine. Open the fuel door and remove the gas cap. Put your ear up against the gas filler tube and listen for the fuel pump running. If you don't hear anything it is most likely a bad fuel pump. Let someone listen to make sure. To replace, you may have to remove the gas tank or maybe there is an access panel in the trunk, I don't know about a cadillac.

TURN THE IGNITION KEY TO RUN POSITION.YOU CAN HEAR FUEL RUNNING IN FUEL TANK. MAKING A WHIRLING NOISE. IT WILL RUN FOR 3 SECONDS THEN TURN OFF. MAKE SURE YOUR RADIO OFF NO NOISE AROUND YOU CAN HEAR IT RUNNING IN TANK.IF NOT CHECK FUEL PUMP FUSE AND RELAY.YOU CAN ALSO USE A FUEL PUMP PRESSURE GAUGE.HOOK IT UP TO TEST PORT.FUEL PRESSURE SHOULD BE 35 - 45 PSI.

It could be the computer, but I would leave that as last solution. I would Test fuel pressure on fuel rail. There should be a test port with a cap, YOu can put a rag over the valve on port, press in and see if there is fuel pressure. (key must be in ON position)
If there is no fuel pressure, then check power to fuel pump with voltmeter. You can also test power leading to the fuel pump relay. You can test the relay itself with an ohmmeter.
When you first turn key to ON position, you should hear fuel pump run for a few seconds.

If you have fuel to the engine, next thing would be to check spark. Spark consists of Crank Shaft Positon Sensor (which commonly fail) to ignition module and coil packs, then to plugwires and plugs.
You can test the sensors with an ohmmeter in the ohm setting to see if the sensor is good. You can use a test light or voltmeter to see if there is power to the plug wires.

How are other components working?

First thing I would check is the fuel pump...Without starting the engine - what do you hear when you turn the key off and on?

Wait a few seconds between turning key off/on...you should hear the pump run and then stop; this is the pump reaching fuel pressure.

If the pump is not running; check fuses.

If fuses are good, check for restriction in the fuel line...posibble clogged fuel filter.

Perform this test:

Fuel pump test:

1. Get yourself a helper.

2. remove the gas cap.

3. have one person listen in the gas tank at the gas cap opening.

4. have the other person turn the ignition switch to the ON position ONLY so as the dash lights come on. Do NOT attempt to start the engine.

5. As soon as the ignition key is turned to the ON position, The person at the gas tank should hear the fuel pump run for TWO SECONDS and then it should STOP.

6. Does it ?.


If you do NOT hear it run, in most cases the fault is the fuel pump relay or the fuel pump..


As soon as you turn ON the ignition switch to start the engine a 2 second ONLY battery voltage signal is sent from the computer to the fuel pump relay and from the relay back to the fuel pump in the fuel tank. This runs the fuel pump for ONLY 2 seconds of which pressurizes the fuel system in preparation to start the engine.

Once the engine starts, The computer BYPASSES the fuel pump relay and sends constant contionous battery voltage from the computer to the oil pressure switch of which is now CLOSED because the oil pressure is UP because the engine is running. Therefore the battery voltage flows thru the oil pressure switch back to the fuel pump to run the fuel pump constantly until you turn OFF the engine.
