SOURCE: OUR 1995 LEXUS SC400 HAS STARTED TO LOOSE POWER

No, not ABS at all. Your brake master cylinder is shot and needs to be replaced.

Brake failure

If you are talking about the brake pedal being stiff and too hard to push, then working easily again - it sounds like you temporarily lost the power assist. This will happen again and it is not safe to drive until properly repaired.

Many decades ago cars had no power assist and took much more foot pressure and much longer distance to stop. So your brakes were working, just not the assist.

The power assist is provided by a vacuum line from the engine. The likely causes of the failure are: stalling or stopped engine, leak in hose from engine to brake assist booster or leak in the diaphragm inside the brake booster. There are also other much less likely causes from brake fluid lines and the master cylinder. Regardless, don't drive knowing the brakes are likely to fail.

1998 Lexus GS300: The dashboard warning light for the tail lights is on

I had this with my ES330. It turned out to be the upper brake light in the rear window. Despite my wife and I checking all the lights multiple times, a friend pointed out the obvious. A new bulb fixed it.

1998 Lexus Ls vsc light is on want to know what is it

Vcs means "Vehicle Stability/skid Control".Variable Skid Control is a part of your brake system. It is indicating that it senses a problem with your brake system.Get the car scanned at autozone service center. Its absolutely free at autozone to get car scanned. In scanning it will show the error codes as per that you can get the parts replaced. Also if in scanning,if no codes are shown ,then also get your brake system inspected. ----------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

96 Lexus ES300 When you depress the brake pedal, the car "slides" to a stop. It feels like the ABS is kicking in when there is no need. It happens always when turning right into a parking space, but...

Hi there

Few things: When you say it 'slides' to a stop. Do you mean the pedal sinks to the floor with the same pressure as you first applied? If so, the master cylinder needs an overhaul or a replacement, as the seal around the plunger/piston has deteriorated.

If that is not the case, and you get a pulsating feel through the brake pedal, this is the ABS working. If it is not an emergency stop, then the rear brake pads are low, which causes the ABS to trigger too early (and by the sounds of it it is the left rear brake pad).

Seems odd how Toyota mechanics could not work that one out, they own Lexus. Alas, if it's not on their fool-proof computer screen then they pass the buck.

Good luck and please vote for me if this helps you.

1998 lexus gs 300 brake light on but brakes are fine

If it a picture of rear of car lights it means you have a rear bulb out. If the light says BRAKE your emergency brake may be depressed one notch or low fluid level in master cylinder.
