Highest point on the system.
Near thermostat or back of head.
Follow top hose exiting engine, near thermostat, and find it there.
Highest point on engine side of thermostat.
If thermostat is located low or in-hose; then look for cast aluminum riser or bridge between heads, it will be there.
Crack half to one turn, don't remove fully.
It won't bubble, bleed or hiss until rad cap is on and engine has initial warm on it. Patience will bring air to the top.
Some need a backer wrench or the whole assembly might come out.
I betcha a ten mil wrench will fit.
Find it while cold and test-crack it so that it doesn't break and spew hot on you.
If you mean the drain plug, bottom of the radiator on left side.
SOURCE: coolant flush
look on the radiator next to the top hose connection, also on the thermostat housing there should be a small screw, bleed the thermostat housing first then the radiator
SOURCE: What type of coolant should I use on a 2004 Chevy Impala LS?
Hi there;
You should use long life "orange" coolant if the coolant in the car is that colour. Sometimes people flush the long life stuff out & put green in. so you'll need to look @ your coolant & decide from there. What ever you do don't add green to orange or vise versa as that will create sludge.
If you visit you local parts store & tell them the colour of your coolant they should be able to set you up.
Hope this helps, Good luck.
Farrout!
SOURCE: 2004 Chevy Impala no heat from defrost or heater
No heat is often a symptom of low coolant, usually followed by overheat. There are other controls that regulate heater, but right now, re-fill the cooling system with engine running and heater on high, then check for leaks (coolant you lost went somewhere...you need to determine where) Low coolant will damage your engine. Take care of that first, then if heater still does not work, then do diagnosis on that. (if you loose the engine heat won't matter, will it!)

Most of the late model GM vehicles use Dex cool.
SOURCE: Need to locate coolant reservoir
The coolant recovery tank is located between the power steering fluid reservoir and the underhood fuse block in the engine compartment on the passenger's side of the vehicle. . The vehicle must be on a level surface. When your engine is cold, the coolant level should be at the COLD mark or a little higher. When your engine is warm, the level should be up to the HOT mark or a little higher.
