Therre may be a fuel cut off switch (usually along the passenger side kickboard) check that first... If that isnt the problem then you need to go with the basics of a no start problem. Check for fuel and spark... Try and listen to see if you hear the fuel pump engaging...

On the drivers die of the engine you shoud see the fuel rail. There will be a test port with a black cap on the pressure line near the fuel pressure regulator. With the engine off, remove the cap and press in the schrader valve (be prepared for gas to shout out). If no gas comes out and you have repeatedly tried to start the vehicle than you have most likely ruined the fuel pump.
The fuel pump is cooled by the fuel in the tank. Running them dry especially in a GM is almost guaranteed to burn up the pump.
You can also check to make sure there is power to the pump.
You should be able to find the harness that runs to the tank on the inside of the frame rail on the drivers side. Open up the plastic loom and look for the larger of the two grey wires. The best thing to use is a test lead called a JR Jumper (this will allow you to pierce the wire without ruining the insulation and causing corrosion issues in the future). If one is not available you can use a very small sowing pin to pierce the wire.
If you use the pin apply some liquid black tape or even some silicone to the area to help reseal the wire.
