OK, let me remember..........the code 753 means the solenoid INSIDE the tranny pan is bad. You don't have 1st or 4th gear, is what I was told, however, you probably WON'T even notice. I didn't. If you are at a stop, and get on it hard, you should be able to tell. If you drive normal, like me, and just accelerate gradually, you would not be able to tell that the truck is not hitting the 1st and 4th gear. You may not recognize a problem, just the check engine light. Your going to have to drop the tranny pan, replace the solenoid, and reinstall the fluid and the pan. The hardest part is, upon dropping the pan, if you don't know what you are doing, you can damage the other solenoids, and if you don't damage any, you may still have a hard time realizing which solenoid is the right one. It would take 1hour at, plus tranny pan gasket and fluid, etc., etc., for a total of about $120. Most transmission shop charge $100 for a transmission oil and filter service. The solenoid was about $20. It is not hard to replace, just unclip the wire harness and solenoid which will be an extra 5 min to the service time.

SOURCE: I have a 1997 Kia Sportage (#KNAJA5278VA787759).
I had a simular problem.
Ended up changing the themastat and the gears changed into overdrive when the temp. got to normal running.
Be carefull that you get right thermastat though. You want one that reaches the normal working Temp as soon as possable.
Hope this helps.

This problem is likely caused by a failed clutch pack or low fluid pressure due to a internal leak. The bottom line here is that you will need transmission pressure gauges hooked up and then road test performed. Also you will need to test the system for fault codes. I think based on the symptoms you will need to replace or rebuild the transmission.
