SOURCE: Broken Lug Studs

You have to remove the hub to remove the bolts, if they won't come out by rotating the hub.

To remove the hub, take the cap off at the center of the hub (the cap would be poking you a the center of the hub, and is about 2 inches in diameter.

There should be a cotter key or something preventing the spindle nut from turning. Remove it. If there is a cover over the spindle nut, remove it. Take the spindle nut off. Pull lightly on the hub, and it will come off. Watch for the front bearing to pop out.

To reassemble, put hub back on spindle, put bearing and washer against bearing, thread on spindle nut and tighten while rotating hub. Back off 1/2 to 1 flat add cover (if used) and install cotter key.

SOURCE: I am trying to replace

With adrift punch. bang out broken stud from huB. Will take some severe hammerering, so using a heavy short handle sledge is advised. Now place the new stud into the hub hole. Put the lug nut on , TIGHTEN ( preferablly with an air impact gun ) as tight as you can till the stud bottoms out. Then you're done. Hope this helps

Three Wheel studs broken how do I replace preferably cheap?!

Here is some help for you to replace the broken wheel studs on your 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan, you will need to follow these steps:

First, you will need to remove the tire that has the broken studs. You can do this by using a tire jack to lift the car and then using a lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts. Once the lug nuts are loosened, you can remove the tire from the car.

Once the tire is removed, you will need to use a hammer and punch to carefully tap the remaining pieces of the broken studs out of the hub.

Next, you will need to purchase new wheel studs that are compatible with your car. You can find these at an auto parts store or online.

Once you have the new studs, you will need to use a press or a hydraulic tool to press the studs into the hub. Make sure that the studs are pressed in evenly and securely.

Finally, you can replace the tire and lug nuts, and lower the car back to the ground. Test the new studs to make sure that they are secure and that the tire is properly seated on the hub.

How do you undo left wheel studs?

If you are trying to change a broken or bad threads on a wheel stud you only have to tap it with a hammer to drive it out of the hub. You install new ones with a nut that is larger than the threads on the new stud. You put the new stud in from the back of the hub, put the larger nut over the stud and use a lug nut and a wrench to pull the new stud tight into the hub.

How to replace broken lug nut studs on a

lug studs are pressed in from the back of the hub flange so clear access to the hub and behind it . use a hammer and drift ( punch) knock the broken bit back towards the inside of the hub flange . Place a new stud in position ( splines may line up a bit with marks already in the hole) use the nut and a series of washers and tighten the nut . It will pull the stud into the hub. If you want to do it another way ,take the hub off, knock out the broken bit, place the hole over a piece of pipe and insert the new stud. use the hammer to drive it home

How do i get the rear hub off to replace the wheel studs

On some vehicles you may need to slightly pry the hub off. This can be done with a screw driver or the vehicle may have a lug wrench that came with the vehicle. If you are trying to replace the lug studs, then you will have to take the wheel off. Tap the broken stud out and replace it with the new one.

Removing Lug bolt plate from car

HI:
Stop!!! The "round plate" that the wheel studs are mounted to is your hub assembly. To replace a broken stud, you simply need to use a hammer and a drift pin punch, and pound it backwards. You replace it in similar fashion: insert the new wheel stud in from the back side of the hub, and use the wheel lug nut to draw the new stud into the hub assembly.

Wheel stud replacement

The first step in wheel stud replacement is to remove the old one. On almost every car, this is done by taping them out from the threaded side
.
Rotate the hub so that the back side (flat, on the back side of the hub) will not smash into something when you tap it out.
You will need a heavy hammer and safety glasses,

Next, while the glasses are on your face, use the hammer and whack on the threaded end of the old stud to drive it out the back side of the hub. If if was broken off real short, you might have to use a punch to transfer the hammer blows to what is left of the stud.

To install the new one, place it in the hole from the back side and use a standard lug nut on the new stud screwed on backwards (flat end toward the hub) and then use the car's lug wrench to tighten the nut and pull the stud into the hub. Make sure the grooves in the hub line up with the ridges in the new stud before trying to seat it.

Once the stud is fully seated, remove the lug nut. You are done.

I usually buy a standard lug nut that fits the replacement stud to do this procedure because most mag nuts are closed on the back end. It is cheap and will save lots of time.
