When there's something wrong with the brake pressure that handbrake warning light comes on.

The ESP warning light could be caused by a lot of things, but most likely it's a dirty fuel filter. Don't take my word for it though, just go to the VW dealer and have it read the faultcodes from the ECU, which should point you/them in the right direction.

Alternatively, when you have the right equipment (= VAGCOM + cable) and knowledge, you or a friend yould diagnose the ECU yourself.

From the sounds of it, you'll need a small service (air filter and oil filter change, etc.) anyways. Don't forget to reset the ECU (or dis- and reconnect the battery) afterwards to erase the faultcode from memory (when there's still something wrong, it'll return soon enough).

You might get lucky with a small service :)

I have an 2003 Mk 4 Golf GT TDI 150, Intermittently when I start it up, it will tick over but will not rev at all.

I had a similar problem - engine would run at only low rpm. I suspected fuel starvation from a clogged fuel filter, but it turned out to be a carbon-fouled intake manifold. Depending on how yours was driven (lugging?) and the total mileage (high), I would check the manifold for carbon builup. Cleaning the manifold is difficult or very expensive, as it should be removed and baked out. There are probably several other possible causes that I, fortunately, have not experienced.

I have a 07 Mk 5 golf TDi. the dipped beam is too low ( hardly see where I'm going ) can this be adjusted?

Yes, headlights are fully adjustable but adjustment must comply with the respective road ordinance. Inquire where you can have the lights set to the legal requirements.
