Just to add, Click on the link for starter wiring diagram. See the starter relay, the relay has two sides, the switch side and the control side. The switch side is on the left side in diagram, terminals 30 and 87. Terminal 30 is fuse protected and hot all the time. Unplug the relay, use jumper wire between terminal 30 and 87 cavity, the starter motor should crank the engine. If you try that, make sure transmission is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. Make sure vehicle can't move. If it cranks with the jumper, the problem is on control side of relay, right side in diagram. The top wire on that side is voltage, on the left side in diagram, you can see where that voltage comes from, ignition switch crank position--fuse--transmission range sensor. The bottom wire on control side of relay is ground. You could use both ends of testlight at terminals 85 and 86, have helper turn key to crank, if the lite comes on, you got enough voltage and ground for that lite.
Make sure battery has a full charge and connections all good.

It's located under the air cleaner housing on the drivers side. After removing the housing there is a round plastic cover to remove and it is under that.

SOURCE: heat wont work 2001 lincoln town car cartia

Hello Callahan5922....this sounds like a stuck blower motor resistor. I assume the blower won't function in the a/c mode either? If you have a digital multimeter you can check this. I believe it's fuse #2....if the digital indicator goes up or down when you increase or decrease the fan speed thats good. Locate the blower motor resistor....you wil find it located on the fire wall behind the right valve cover hiding behind the heater hose, it's about the size of a cigarette pack. With the engine off, and key in on position, turn the A/C on High, and rap a tap tap tap on the resistor. You might be suprised when the blower motor takes off a runnin,
I hope this is the answer you need and i was able to help solve this for you. Good luck...

2001 Lincoln tow car won't start

see if this helps you out....

The starter won't crank. If nothing happens when you turn the ignition key to the "Start" position, it means that the starter motor doesn't turn over the engine. Most commonly this could be caused by a dead battery; here is How to check the battery. ... The starter motor itself or a starter solenoid could be bad.13 Aug 2013

Clean your battery terminals properly-You can also use a jumper;remote starting switch tool to jumper all circuits to diagnose starter(could be dead starter)-Could possibly be neutral safety switch and many other wonderful gremlins, however, these are the main culprits that I can readily think of.....

My 92 lincoln town car will not start i have replaced the starter, the neutral safety switch and the battery but when i turn key nothing happens but can jump starter and will crank

Yes there is a starter relay in the wiring diagram.
The yellow and lite blue wire goes from the starter solenoid to the relay. There is a yellow wire from the relay to a 30amp fuse. The key switch powers thru the neutral safety switch and then powers the relay on.

I have a 2001 Lincoln Town Car executive series 4.6 v 8 it cranks fine after it cranks initially , from time to time it takes a while between starts to crank again (if it's been driven then sat) what...

If it only does it when it sat a day or so, I would
lean toward fuel pump issues

That is a thin line to come back here & have to support
that statement.

I would be up on my spark plugs, cleaning maf sensor, replacing
O2 Sensors etc, only when they are due, based on time & mileage

eg: get the basics out of the way first.

An old battery can do that also

You say cranks fine after initial crank
Some people refer to cranking ,as meaning a no start
condition. Cranking has little to do with starting

The more I read your question the similar it is to others

You don't have a problem with the car starting at all

You have a problem with the starter turning over the engine

1996 lincoln town car well crank but wont start. these happend same time last year had 2 replace 2 sensors but we had somone else do it so dont now what sensors or were they are. or if its that.

The crank sensor wires may be oil soaked, try moving them a little and see if it will start. It's beside the crank pulley on the passenger side. Got my lincoln started that way.

you need to find the starter solenoid and jump the two largest posrs with booster cables .if it canks repace the starter.if all your hearing now is a clicking sound you need to jump power to the solenoids start wire,a push on wire on the smaller post of the solenoid ,if it cranks replace the solenoid.if neither makes it crank, repair the grounrd cable or remove the starter and remove the rust from the nose cone and the mounting point.
