SOURCE: 2001 VW Jetta 1.8L - Front RH Door Lock won't lock
I have a similar issue on a 2001 Jetta sedan. jandkat seems to be talking about the old system that VW used (pre-1998). To my knowledge there is no vacuum-based locks in the 2001 models. I've had the door completely apart and there are defiantly not any vacuum hoses. The only 100% for sure fix I have found is to replace the door latch mechanism. There are some other options but I'm not sure they would completely fix the issues you are having. Now for the bad news: you can only get this door latch mechanism from VW dealers. I have yet to find a place online or elsewhere that carries them. They are around $185 for the latching mechanism and if you don't want to install it, be prepared to pay another $200 or so in labor. If you do want to do it yourself, here is a great site that has step-by-step how to take a VW door apart: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1015107
Hope this helps
SOURCE: how do I install a new front door RH window
you will have to remove all the trim from inside of the door, remove the weather seal from behind the trim as well
if it has electric windows you will have to remove the winder as a unit from inside the door
remove any broken glass from inside the door, turn the replacement glass with the narrow end down and slide it down through the top opening where the window glass normally goes in the door
once it is inside the door turn it around so it is in its normal position and place it in the channels where the glass runs, connect the electric winder mechanism and replace everything in reverse order as you removed it
hope this helps
SOURCE: how do I remove headrest front and back from a 2013 Rolls Royce Ghost. These are powered up and down
No info available on this...but I will make an educated guess. Raise the headrest to its maximum height. Look for a latch or pin on the support posts or press the support posts inward toward each other and lift.

Class 2 and Power Door Serial Data Links
The class 2 and power door data circuits are both serial data links. The serial data circuits replace cables in the vehicle by multiplexing (time-sharing) data to and from each device over a single wire referenced to ground. If the power door serial data is lost, both the rear door module (RDM) and the passenger door module (PDM) enters the sleep mode. With the RDM and the PDM in sleep mode, no power door operations are possible.
Your best bet is to take it to the dealer or an ASE certified repair shop .
