Same As Described By No. 1

I read the proposed solution. I can't say it's wrong, but I've had the same thing going on for a while in my '87 turbo Supra. It really does sound like water bubbling through hoses or lines, or the core, and not any metallic ting tinging. I've got a great Supra guy and he can't figure it out either.

I recently had my 1998 a4 1.8t quattro in the shop and I was told that my turbo is not working. Ive noticed no change in performance so I'm assuming it wasn't working when I bought it 3 months ago....

Hello! You have a couple of options...# 1..It is important to maintaining the life of the car and also its resale value...I've included two diagrams of the turbo... The second of which is all off the vacuum lines....I do not know what the mechanic said was wrong with it, however the vacuum lines are worth a look and the possibility exist to fix it...#2...I would recommend taking it to another mechanic for a precise diagnosis of the problem... and, yes if you can find another, if in fact it needs to be completely replaced, Ebay is a good choice or RockAuto.com.........Guru.....Saailer

Replace normal engine in 87 supra with turbo 7mgt, complete with harness and computer. the tac did not work, the temp gauge reads hot at all time, key on engine not started it reads hot. changed cluster...

Check for crushed/shorted wires.
Check part numbers to verify model compatibility.
If to no avail install aftermarket tachometer and turbo boost gauges.

What feeds the boost gauge? On my 87 Supra Turbo, my boost gauge isn't working properly. Is it vacuum operated? Or are it's readings supplied by the MAF or MAP?

The boost gauge is fed by the Turbo. It tells you how much extra air the turbo is putting into your engine. This is turbo ONLY. Usually a little plastic line from the turbo to the gauge.

Mk3 Supra Turbo Boost Gauge Problems

The gauge is working fine, the turbo will not kick in untill the engine is spinning fast enough, as the turbo is propelled by exaughst from the engine. So, you can drive around normal and never use the turbo, and climb in the gas and spool the turbo up, what you are noticing is called turbo lag, which is the biggest down fall when compaired to superchargers!

1. What happens if you put the wrong fuel in a car

Well it can majorly mess things up
If you put diesel in a gas engine it will die allmost imediately.

if you put gas in a diesel engine, a little wont hurt, but if you filled up, then it could damgae the engine horribly.

If you simply put in the wrong grade ie. 87 octane instead of 93, then dont worry it wont hurt a thing.

Smokin Car

I had a 87 740 turbo wagon, It ran a 10.9 1/4 mile man was it fun. I hate to say that your turbo is nearing the end of its life. The only thing you can do is replace it. there are speciality shops that specilize in turbos. if you can't find one close check out a Diesel truck shop, they deal in turbos too. maybe you can have it rebuilt a little cheaper, or I can tell you how make it pass a Corvette. Good luck.
