I have a 2006 SLK280. I just changed the transmission fluid and filter. Now, the vehicle will not go into gear. Any ideas?

SOURCE: How do you change or add transmission fluid in this vehicle?

There is no way to check the fluid level short of removing and disassembling it.. The 96 slx tranny is a sealed system.

Nope. There is a drain plug on the transmission case. It is a simple drain and fill. Odyssey transmissions do not have a filter.

Good Evening, I have a dumb question. have you cleared any current or history codes in the transmission? They will default with codes in the system. Also make note on what they are. If any and we can go from there, and yes tcm would be the next place to go but more info is best as far as codes and such.

2006 terrano 3GMR (import) erratic-jumping in/out of O/D on the straight

The erratic jumping in and out of overdrive (O/D) on your 2006 Terrano 3GMR with a 3.2L engine could be caused by a few different issues. Here are some possible causes and fixes:
  1. Faulty speed sensor: The speed sensor provides input to the transmission control module (TCM) to determine when to engage overdrive. A faulty sensor can cause the TCM to think the vehicle is going too slow or too fast for overdrive engagement. A mechanic can test the speed sensor and replace it if necessary.
  2. Low transmission fluid level: Low transmission fluid level can cause the transmission to shift erratically or not engage overdrive. Check the transmission fluid level and add fluid as necessary. If the fluid level is low, it's important to also check for any leaks that may be causing the fluid loss.
  3. Worn or damaged overdrive band: The overdrive band is responsible for engaging and disengaging overdrive. If the band is worn or damaged, it may not engage properly. A mechanic can inspect the overdrive band and replace it if necessary.
  4. Transmission control module (TCM) issues: The TCM controls the shifting and engagement of overdrive. If the TCM is malfunctioning, it may not engage overdrive or cause erratic shifting. A mechanic can test the TCM and replace it if necessary.
It's recommended to have a professional mechanic diagnose and repair the issue, as the transmission is a complex and vital component of the vehicle.

How many miles should 2006 hhr transmission fluid be changed

According to the owner's manual:
Owners manual says change at 50,000, 100,000 and 150,000 miles if you are driving under one of these conditions:
1) in heavy city traffic where the outside temp regularly reaches 90 or higher
2) in hilly or mountainous terrain
3) when doing frequent towing
4) uses such at a taxi, police,or delivery service

if you do not use you vehicle under any of there conditions ,the fluid and the filter do not require changing per GM.

That being said, I've seen one come into a shop working fine, but being hugely past its "service by" mileage, needing rebuilt after having a fluid change and filter. The old fluid is so filled with particles of the clutch packs that changing it out causes the transmission to slip like mad, the particles were acting like the friction material in the clutch packs.

My 2006 hhr has a rattle when shifting in automatic transmission

What you are hearing is referred to as "chatter," and is a first warning of transmission trouble. If your vehicle has over 50,000 miles, and the transmission fluid and filter have never been changed, the fluid likely has lost its viscosity or has become contaminated, and the internal seals in the transmission have begun to leak. Check the fluid: It should be semi-transparent, the color of blood, and should have approximately the viscosity of lightweight lubricating oil. If it is gray, tan, dark brown, watery, or if it has the odor of kerosene, it bad. Eventually, the transmission will fail.
You may start by having a transmission "service" performed, where they will replace the fluid and filter/screen. If that does not eliminate the chatter, it may be time to consider having your transmission rebuilt.

Often change transmission fluid

Hi Costas, Very good idea and often overlooked by too many. Its good to change the fluid once or tice a year depending on the number of miles driven, but even if the vehicle remains parked for the year, it needs replacing. Drain the fluid and drop the oil pan,and remove and replace the internal oil filter. (Some Mitsubishi vehicles have external oil filters fitted making the job easier. Replace it and the drain plug and then refill. Check the level with the engine running at idle speed and after getting in with park brake engaged and pressing the foot brake and changing through each gear, pausing between each change (including reverse) and return to N. Check oil level on dip stick. Regards John

What is trouble code p0713? my transmission sometimes is hard to shift out of first gear and sometimes it acts like it's stuck in high gear. it is a 4 speed automatic 4x4

That code indicates the transmission is overheating which will certainly cause the problem your having. This maybe just a need to have the fluid and filter changed. Check your fluid level and check the fluid to see if it is a brownish color instead of Red. If it is burned have the fluid and filter changed. This should resolve the issue. Since you are having shifting problems it would be a good idea to have the transmission checked by a Service tech.

Transmission problem in 2006 mazda 6

If you have gone to a shop to have your transmission maintained, I would get them on the phone immediately. Foreign cars, especially shiftronic trans. usually use different fluids. If they have put the wrong fluid or forgotten a filter, etc., you may have a destroyed system. Double check with your fluid type and the type inserted in your vehicle.

Transmission does not engage when it's cold. Mechanic recommend flushing the transmission fluid. Is that a good idea?

I would try changing the fluid and filer in the transmission before I would flush it,that doesn't clean the filter or the fluid in the converter.

Transmission fluid

you should change your fluid at or around every 100,000 miles. also look into changing the transmission filter when you change the fluid. IMPORTANT: if you are having transmission problems like a slipping gear of lack of gear, DO NOT change the fluid as it will most likely free up whatever is making your transmission work currently. take it to aamco and have them diagnose it, only if you are having trouble, otherwise changing the tranny fluid is something you can easily do in your driveway or garage.
