SOURCE: 1996 Dodge Ram Transmission shifting problem

I had the same problem with my 96 Ram 1500. I thought I was going to have to pull it out and get it rebuilt or just replace it. That was at 134,000Km it's now got 210,000 and shifting like a dream. What I did to solve the problem was this, as follows:
1. No lucas transmission Fix makes things worse.
2. Get your self a new transmission filter and gasket
3. Grab Gunk transmission medic 12oz
4. Grab 7 Liters of Valvoline ATF+4 transmission fluid (Made for chrysler transmissions)
5. Drop the trans pan and drain all the oil, clean pan and magnet
6. start truck for 5 seconds and the pump will pour out another 1 liter
7. re-install filter, gasket and pan, then add your Valvoline ATF+4
8. Add, the valvoline, transmission medic and make sure you have the right level of fluid

That solved my transmission problems, instantly it was shifting better, I no longer had to let off the gas to make it shift. Now if you have large pieces of metal on the magnet, and it's totally covered in filings, you might want to consider rebuilding the trans. My magnet had usual clutch.

Anyhow good luck, let me know if it did the trick for you.

SOURCE: My 2003 Mercury Mountaineer Gear Shift is stuck.

See if u have brake lights. This is what energizes the shifter solenoid. There are 2 fuses u can check both are in the under dash fuse panel. Fuse 23 (15amp) and fuse 26 (7.5amp).
To get it out of park turn igntion switch on stopping just short of engerizing the electronics then u should be able to get it out of park and into neutral.

SOURCE: gear shift stuck in neutral when moving to park

1st check your shifter linkage-does the indication coincide with your gear recognition display in instrument cluster? most liley if it is not the linkage the gear recognition swith inside your shift box is defective-usually they get soda or coffee spelled on them and malfution. I would recomend having you car scanned for codes.

Have you serviced the front differential? If you check your manual, you'll see it needs to be serviced at somewhere around 30K mi intervals similar to the transmission. Typically changing of the fluid is done but if left unchecked provides the potential for early failure.

Grinding noises from the front dif are NOT a good sign - and may indicate the need for an expensive repair / replacement. Fluids may have leaked out completely or are too low and caused overheating, etc.

I would bring it to a trusted mechanic ASAP to see if damage can be minimized!

Without driving the vehicle, it is hard to say for sure. However, there is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that is published by Honda that involves your transmission limiter tabs (part of the rear transmission mount) causing a vibration while accelerating.
The TSB number is 04-070. I can send you a complete copy of the TSB if you want to post an email address. Or you can also probably get your local dealer to print you out a copy if you don't want your email address posted online. (recommended)

MY JEEP SHAKES WHEN I'M STOPPING OR SLOWING DOWN. IT ALSO TENDS TO SHAKE WHEN I'M ON THE FREEWAY GOING OVER 50. WHAT DO YOU THINK IS CAUSING THIS? THANKS,

Four things to check; tires, shocks/struts, differential, and breaks.

tires: check to see all the tires are balanced and at the proper pressure

differential: if you are hearing a grinding sound and there is oil dripping from the rear or front differentials you should et them reaired

shocks/struts: push down on the bumpers if you are able to bottom out the susspension then you need to replace the shocks/struts

breaks: if your breaks are squeaking or you hear metal grinding then you may need to replace the brakes

the differential would be your most likely candidate for the problem the way you have described this problem, but don't rule out the others because it may be a combination of the problems.

1999 Subaru Forester has developed a shake when accelerating, esp. between 20-30 mph. Wheel bearings replaced - didn't help. Tires checked, balanced, etc. - didn't help. Front end allignment - didn't help....

Auto or 5-speed?
Subarus have CV axles in front and back. And a drive shaft from the center differential of the transmission to the back differential.

Yes, it could be the drive shaft or axle. If you turn the car hard left or right do you hear any noises - usually a 'clicking' sound? This is likely a CV axle in front.

Check the fluid in the transmission (Automatic) (info is in the Owner's Manual) to make sure it's full and/or gear oil in the front differential.

If it's an Automatic transmission, the fluid may need changed - NOT FLUSHED - if it has more than 30K miles since last changed.

My 2004 Mercury Mountaineer will go into gear but will not move. What could be the problem

Your rear emergency brakes could be hung up. Especially if a parking valet or someone else parked it recently.

You need to jack up both rear wheels and then put your car into neutral with the motor OFF. If the rear wheels can not be manually turned it is either the emergency brakes, the differential or the transmission.

The emergency brakes require removing the back tires and rotors. If it is still locked, then it is either the differential or the trans. The driveshaft connects the trans to the differential so remove the driveshaft. If the differential turns without the driveshaft, then the trans is locked up. If the differential does not turn the problem is inside the differential.

Trying to find out how much oil the Triton V-10 takes when I do my oil change? I cant seem to find it or anyone who knows

It should be listed in the owners manual, but because of different oil cooler setups you may have to do the change yourself and add oil until the correct level is established..... for the first oil change.
Most likely 7 liters, but start with 5,run the engine to fill the oil filter, let it sit for 5 mins and recheck and fill to full.
Note the amount needed for next time.
