unlikely to be the coolant temperature sensor
more likely to be a failing electronic component like an ECM if EFI engine or an ignition control module failing for a component overheating internally
why I say this is because coolant temperatures take a long time to cool down but an electronic component that has no current flowing will cool quicker

The button is bad. the flasher is in the fuse panel.

eaither you have a bad starter, bad celinoid, or a bad connection from the positive to your starter or ground to your block. if you try and turn it overand it just clicks you have a bad celinoid. if you tap the casing of the starter and the engine turns over then you need to buy a new starter or rebuild the one you have.

If you don't have any engine lights on, the first thing to replace would be the fuel filter. It is located under your car, probably about half way down. Just follow the gas line, and you'll find it.

Your car is equipped with the VATS security system. Cars with this system need a key with a "chip" in it to start the car. A regular key won't start the car because of the security system. A key from the dealership is needed to start any GM car with the VATS system.

You have to reset it, I honestly am not sure about how for your particular model but I had a Grand Prix and several Pickups about that year that required turning the key off then back on and hitting accelerator pedal three times as I remember.
