Heater vent in front of driver next to window 2017 model

Anonymous provided their own fix. Good job but you may need to fix it again when Summer comes.

I fixed this problem. I removed the Vent Mode Actuator from under the dash on the drivers side, then I moved the vent shaft by hand. I noticed some of the plastic parts attached to the shaft didn't move when I rotated it, so I just rattled the parts around with my finger. (I think one of the plastic gears inside had jammed and the rattling unjammed it) In any case, the internal louvers are moving with the shaft now, and heat is coming out of the front vents as it should.

The 3344 2017 model experiences a gear engagement issue when coming to a dead stop, required the driver to switch off the truck before gears can engage properly again. Fault codes GS22, GS24, and GS28 are present.

Yes, check the blend Door Activators. They are the nylon flaps that direct the air to the vents. Details in the videos

Hard to say , would need to view wiring diagrams an test the electrical circuit's for the vent windows to find the reason why . Do you know what a wiring diagram is an how to use with DVOM - digital volt ohm meter to test the circuit's ? Checking connectors , wiring , switch operation ? Pulling the driver door panel an vent window trim panel to check for B+ voltage at the motor etc.... sounds like the blend doors are stuck shut. when you switch it to defrost does the air come out the windshield vents?

I would talk to a dealer or two.
You could have a damaged heater box or blend door. The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and the vents.
There was a recall for some blend doors on some Jeep models.
You may have to contact factory customer service to get it fixed.

does it smell like antifreeze if so its the heater core i just replaced mine, also check your water pump in front behind belt pully's while running it should be dripping.

You didn't specify what type of vehicle.
If you have very poor air flow out the vents, later model vehicles have a hepa filter or cabin filter in line form the blower motor to the vents. It can be plugged quite easily and drastically cuts down the air blown into the vehicle. Check to see if they are plugged. Secondly, Check your coolant level in the rad and reservoir. If the windows fog up when cold and air flow is good it could indicate a leaking heater core. Check the passenger side floor for signs of coolant again I don't know the type of vehicle, some heater cores are located at the firewall under the hood.

Sounds like the flap valve in your vent system that allows air to go to the defrosters is either jammed or broken. Unfortunately you will have to take the vent system apart to look.
