Isolate what the fuse controls by looking in the owners manual. Then trace these circuits looking for a bad part or bad wiring.

SOURCE: Chevy wont shift properly

Burnt Fluid .....Not Good..Sounds like you're gona need a rebuilt one..with installtion Big Bucks....National Chain $ 1200.00.getting one from salvage use nationwide online scrapers...$ 400-500.You got nothing to loose try adding Transmedic to your transmission. You can also have tranny fliud sucked out and repaced at Service Station $75 but as many people will tell you a 22 year old tranny sometimes it the old fluid that kept them working(with all the **** in there) Good Luck.

SOURCE: 2006 Chrysler 300 wont go

It is in limp mode. Have the transmission computer scanned for codes. It likely has a bad speed sensor. If it has a code in the trans computer, the computer will lock the transmission is second gear.

SOURCE: why does my transmission fuses keep burning out, stops shifting gears, check engine light stays on and coolant fan runs all of the time on my 04 dodge dakota

If you keep blowing fuses then there is dead short to earth in that circuit. Check fault codes and replace the burnt out wire or sensor or solenoid.

1999 mitsubishi eclipse automatic transmission wont shift into 4th gear.

First off.. If you have a check engine light on, Find someone with an OBD2 READER or buy one yourself(very good tool to have) and that will give you the code(s) to your problem..

If not.. Check ALL your fuses..

If those are good and you DO NOT have a sealed tranny.. Check your fluid..

If all the above check out good.. It's gonna be 1 of 2 things..

1. Your overdrive is either turned off and/or damaged.. (Over drive on: uses all 4 gears/Over drive off: uses only 3 gears)

2. Your shift silonoid pack is damaged, which normally when this happens your car goes into a thing called "dummy mode" and keeps the tranny ONLY in 2nd gear..

Now assuming your car shifts into every other gear just fine.. And the fact that normally reverse is the first gear to go out.. I'm gonna say it's your overdrive or a relay that runs with your overdrive..

Let me know what happens or if you have anymore questions..

Jeep runs but will not change gears

automatic? trans, mines a 6speed, and has a clutch.
my guess is yes,
my A/T will not change gears,
all gears slip? (slip , flare or?)
or wont move at all. the car?????
or is stuck in1st gear in drive.?
or wont move in reverse. why not tell full story on so complex a device. super complex it is.
wont up shift , wont down shift
skips gears.
??????????????????

check fuses first.
then scan the PCM, it will tell you errors, called DTCs
use a real scan tool that can scan 2010 Jeeps. (factory codes !!!)
not some autozoned junk.

id bet there is a code, for sure.
even a broken shifter switch, or?

Transmission shifting into nuetral

Check your fluid level. If the fluid level gets low, the pump basically pumps the pan dry in which the trans. valve body has no fluid to direct to keep in engaged in gear. Check your fluid level while running at operating temp. in nuetral. If this checks out ok, the trans. clutches are worn out to the point of the trans. no longer has the ability to stay engaged.
