Hi, I have a chrysler sebring 2007 2.4L Sedan. My fuel gauge always shows empty (light on too) and my engine light is on as well..

Interestingly, the fuel gauge worked well in winter when probably lots of snow stuck under the car. But when the snow melted and spring is here, the gauge stopped working again and shows empty now with engine lightes. Any suggestions? Thanks

Thanks Ray. Is it possible for me to fix this myself. I have done small fixes using youtube before. If not, can you give me some idea on how much it might cost to fix a bad ground connection? Thanks.

WELL HAVING DO IDEA WHAT YOU HAVE TO WORK WITH IT COULD BE BUT MOST OF THE WIRING IS UNDER NEATH THE CAR AND THAT MAKES IT SOMEWHAT TOUGHER .

Wiring for majority of vehicles is inside the car and runs up side panels usually enclosed with harness. If you run the test i have advised you of when you earth wire off fuel tank sender unit fuel gauge should move slowly and evenly to full if it doesnt fuel gauge will require replacing. If it does the unit in your tank will require replacing. If you start ripping into wiring harnesses your off track

Pull the wire off fuel tank to the sender unit earth it out with ignition on.The fuel gauge should go to full slow even motion if it does replace unit in petrol tank.If it doest move you need new fuel gauge. Also before any of this i sumise you have checked fuse

SOURCE: driver side power window stopped working

The door panel is held on by plastic clips and 5 screws. 3 screws are on the bottom and 1 in the pull cup and 1 in the inner door handle. Then grab one of the corners and give a small tug, when you get some of the clips to pop out then proceed around the whole panel. To replace the panel take the clips out of the door with a fork and slide them back into the panel and then line it up on the door and use your hand like a hammer and bang the panel back on. Hope this helps

SOURCE: Where is the fuel filter located on a 2004 Chrysler Sebring Sedan

Some of the Sebrings have two filters(one is called a sock). The sock(which all sebrings have) is located in the fuel tank itself on the pump module. If this model is the JXI then the external filter is located on the belly of the car between the tank and drivers rear seat. I hope I could help!!!

Chrysler sebring gauge

The fuel gage problem is either from a bad ground to the gage or the sending unit in the tank is bad. They will normally read a half tank or less when the car is full if the sending unit goes bad. I would put a scanner on the computer and check for any codes set.

Fuel gauge changes quickly full to empty few times while driving

sounds like either the ground wire at the fuel sending unit is bad or your sending unit in the tank broke.

ANYONE KNOW WHAT WOULD CAUSE THE FUEL GAUGE IN MY 2001 CHRYLSER SEBRING TO BOUNCE FROM FULL TO EMPTY AND DING THE LOW FUEL LIGHT ON AND OFF? IT JUST KEEPS DOING IT WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING.

  1. Abraded insulation on the fuel gauge sender wire (intermittent short to ground).
  2. Bad fuel level sensor.
  3. Corroded or broken connector in the fuel gauge sender circuit.
