I have a 2000 altima with a no start ondition. My Maxgo scan tool will not even read the BCM. Is this a result of a blown BCM?

Is your scanner capable of reading BCM data? Many scanners read the PCM or ECM but not any of the other modules, unless the security light is flashing the BCM won't have anything to do with a no start. Check the battery, starter, and switches. I hope this helps. Take care.

SOURCE: airbag light is on, I

some parts stores will pull the code for you at no charge and possibly tell you what the code means.this is not to say what the code stands for is the actual problem without checking out the system by a licensed tech as doing it yourself you can get seriously hurt to the point of going to the hopital.the air bag system is control by the bcm.

What is attached to the "room lamp" fuse on a 2012 Nissan Altima Coupe?

sedan or coup/?
read the schematics here the SErVICE MANUAL
https://eautorepair.net/Marketing/Default.asp

previous owner, nobody here blind can now what others did.
inspect your car.

phantom drain on not told exact fuse.
these lamps all run off the BCM brain
the bcm brain uses fuse 9 and 10 JB
and huge H fuse 40amp.
then the BCM runs 8 other lamps, the first being DOME(interior room)
if dome switch is off so be dome of OFF
the switch has off, on ,DOOR.
i door mode it runs MAP lamps
BCM runs directly more lamps (vast) but
runs
vanity mirror
trunk lamp (remove that?)
and 2 step lamps LH and RL

there is no dome(int room) fuse at all you are wrong there
if serious learn to ID the exact fuse with drain so we can answer all loads but so can you here

https://eautorepair.net/Marketing/Default.asp

my wild guess is your ammeter was on BCM fuse
and BCM has bogus load, (over 0.050amps is too much)
it runs vast things (the list is GIANT ,it runs the BODY)
did you use a scan too first on OBD2 port and see BCM errors?
that be first.

Where do you find the fuse for the tail lights on a 2017 Ford fusion

tail means parking lamps today, 4 or 8 lamps on the car
2 in front ,2 rear, 4 on sides, and license plate lamp too.
all are park .
USA answers I do not do outside USA unless asked but I mostly pass on that, 50 countries the cars are not the same by laws too.
2017 car no engine size stated that can effect fuse box type.
5 engines there are.....
i test all fuses, or open the glove box take the user guide and read index see FUSE PAGE> and read. or buy the service manual I am now reading to you, this second
Fusion,. not the MKV?

there is no FUSE, for those lamps
the BCM brain drive them with deep inside ELECTRONIC regulators that shut off if lamps short.
why not present evidence and ask what is wrong first.
it has 7 regulators
front
rear
side
did all 7 fail ,regs? is the trailer wiring a mess? at jack.?
the BCM fuses F62 and F67 if blown kills this BCM function.
Fuse battery junction box, (engine bay box)
so those 2 fuse are good. 50amps rated.
then you must scan the PCM/BCM
with a modern OBD2 scanner told 2008 or newer, (CANBUS rated)

our DLC port is CAN bus pins.3,6,11,14 , if the old scan tool pre 2007
is missing those pins it is a useless tool here, 1996 is useless tool.
I use this one

https://www.amazon.com/Autel-MaxiCheck-Scanner-Diagnostic-Service/dp/B07P621KR1

have 10 tools here back to 1996 and upgrade every few years
to get better coverage and on ABS and SRS, etc.

2000 Cadillac STS Seville I crossed the positive and negative to the battery now my car won't start

You probably fried a the PCM engine computer or maybe even some others BCM - body control module . Hooking up a scan tool to see if the computers with talk would be one thing to do , also checking main fuses would be other thing to do.

What tools are needed to replace BCM?

Important: Perform new BCM setup when you replace Body Control Module (BCM). Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration .
Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
Remove the left instrument panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
Disconnect the BCM electrical connectors.
Push the BCM up and move the bottom of the BCM away from and out of the mounting bracket slot in order to remove the BCM.
During Body Control Module (BCM) related service, the procedures below are designated to set-up the BCM correctly. Before you start, read these procedures carefully and completely.

Setup New Body Control Module (BCM)
Tools Required
Scan Tool (Tech 2) GM factory scan tool !
Important:
• Read this procedure carefully and completely.
• The BCM will not function properly if the Setup New BCM procedure is not performed.
• Perform the Theft Deterrent Re-learn procedure after successfully finishing the Setup New BCM procedure. If the Theft Deterrent Re-learn procedure is not performed after a BCM replacement, the following conditions may occur:
- The vehicle will not be protected against theft by the PASSLOCK system.
- The engine will not crank nor start. Your best bet is to take your vehicle to a dealer or a ASE certified repair shop who has proper tools .

  6. Perform the Programming Theft Deterrent System Components in Theft Deterrent.
  7. Program the key fobs. Refer to Transmitter Programming in Keyless Entry.
  8. Clear all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) with the scan tool.

Sevice Vehicle Light

The service vehicle is not the same as the service engine light in that the service vehicle light has to do with the body control module,(BCM).You have to get the codes read for the BCM and any other module with the scan tool.I`m not sure if Auto Zone can read the BCM codes. Not all scan tools are able to read all the modules in a vehicle.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Electrical problems

It's a "BCM" issue. Body control module. think of a "BCM" as a computer for the interior electrical aspects of the car. If you have the proper scan tool (Tech II) and the skill scan the "BCM" for error codes. Post the codes and I'll tell you how to fix it. If you don't have a scan tool or the skill take the car to a dealer or qualified mechanic.
