SOURCE: Hyundai Santa Fe 2005 won't shift into first gear

Most likely the o-ring seal between the torque converter and the transmission is going bad. Get that transmission rebuilt pronto before serious damage is done! But first, have a mechanic drop the transmission pan and look for signs of a very thin silvery film coating the inside of the pan. If found, then the transmission definitely will have to be rebuilt, and the torque converter will also have to be replaced since embedded metallic particles in the old torque converter will eventually come loose, due to wear of the clutch plates within the torque converter, and eat up the rebuilt transmission. Now, here is the deal once the transmission has been rebuilt:

Change the transmission fluid and filter once a year -- no matter what! If you do this, then you should never have any more problems with the transmission.

SOURCE: i have hyundai santa fe 2005 4cyl .. transmission not shifting .. always in 3rd gear ..

Hello
The Engine and Automatic Transmission (not applicable to manual transmissions) in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM and TCM (Power Train Control Module, Transmission Control Module). When a problem like this or other drive-ability related problems occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. Also always check fuel pressure for correct spec for your make and engine type.

2007 santa fe stuck in reverse. Shifter is hesitant to move but when it does the dashboard says it is still in reverse or no gear at all. I can take key out of ignition no matter what the gear says on...

There's a transmission range switch mounted on the transaxle. I hunch it's shorted. Disconnect it then see what the indicator does, if it goes out change the switch

I'm trying to find the location of the transmission fuse in my 2001 hyundai santa fe.

If the fuse blew the car would still have a gear to get you home by default, so the fuse is not the problem, but if you would like to check it is under the hood.

Hyundai santa fe 2001 clunked in reverse a few times then driving along then know gears at all just reved up and went no where its a auto

Ok I guess after re reading the problem you are saying the transmission now doesn't move the car, check the transmission fluid, if it is showing on the dipstick then you have a failed transmission, any transmission repair shop will do a preliminary inspections of the problem and confirm this, inmost cases at no cost.

My 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe shifts really hard from 2nd to 3rd, almost as though the transmission slips

If there is no check engine light on - check the transmission fluid by pulling out the dip stick (check the level and smell the fluid if it smells burnt, there is an internal problem with the transmission) if all this is ok then the problem may be one of the speed sensos or (pulse generators)

Transmission will not shift all of a sudden On my 2004 Santa Fe

Time to go to a transmission shop. You could try a complete tranny flush at sears first and have the filter changed.

Manual transmission at times has trouble shifting

2003 hyundai, should only have hyundai approved fluids in both the cooling system and transmission. If you take your vehicle to a transmission shop other that hyundai let them now there is a special fluid that goes back into the either radiator or transmission. Regular transmission fluids viscosity is to thick and will make shifting very hard. My Mazda has the same issues Wrong fluids go back into the transmission when I have had work done to it making the shifter hard to shift in cold weather. A Worn clutch can have the same effect.
