2007 saturn ion 4 dr sedan 2.2 l put new gas lines on and was successful but go to start it and it just clicks like antilock the codes read 7eA 7E8

When the battery is good and hooked up and you go to start the vehicle is just makes a solid click clump and what would that be we are not understanding this noise the starter makes or is it ignition locked?

If the noise is coming From the starter then The starter has Failed..Try tapping on the starter lightly while someone holds the key in the crank position and see if it starts

SOURCE: wont start

If the solenoid makes a clicking sound it isn't the ignition switch. Depends on the clicking sound, one click or rattling. Try turning on lights and trying to start, if lights go out when attempting to start, voltage problem(usually battery or bad connections).

SOURCE: 1998 Nissian Altima Not starting

Nothing by either party was said about the starter. The battery and wires can all be in great shape, and if they are and the owner hears a clicking noise when trying to start it its a pretty good bet they may have a starter that's locked up.

One good 'ole trick on those starters. If you can reach the starter, a couple of sharp rapes with a hammer will have it starting again, then you know it time to replace the starter.

SOURCE: Ignition turns but no start

it is an issue in the steering column. I am getting my 2005 back today, finally. 2 mechanics and they said they have never seen this issue before!!
The steering wheel has to be pulled off and the part replaced. It is cutting all power to the ignition switch. It is not the starter or the Alternator... it is in the steering column. It should be about 200.00 to fix.

Triple check your battery cables on the battery end .. esp the positive + side.. Side post batteries are notorius for that

SOURCE: When the ignition key is turned a clicking noise is heard.

Sounds like a bad ground. If the battery voltage does not drop when the starter is engaged, the starter is not getting the juice. Check the ground connection again. 90%

My 2014 GMC Denali 6.2L shows codes 7e8 AND 7eA WHAT DO THEY MEAN

Chevy Mechanic:
Hi my name is ***** ***** I'll be more than happy to assist you. Please allow me a few minutes to review your information. Thank you
They are what they call "generic" codes. Some OBD11 or OBD2, "same thing", generic reades will give a $7E8 and $7EA. together and maybe a $7E9.
These are for a submenu. Click on each one separately and you should or might get a regular "P0" code if your scanner
has the supported module. If not either get a better scanner

I have a 2008 Saturn Aura. Its throwing 2 codes, $7EA and $7E8. 2 mechanics in my home have never seen these codes.

Honestly, no idea acout Saturn Aura's error codes.
But, looks to me that those two mechanics you called are not really very efficient,
Guess you should look for a GOOD mechanical service and get your car's computer scanned by someone who really knows how to use a scanner,

2007 chevy impala codes coming up are 7e8 and 7ea. what do i look for

Seems to be a scanner component ID, not the OBD2 fault code.
You need to learn to use the scanner and interpret the readings (usually the scanner manual contains the meanings to these codes)

Otherwise you need to take the car to an independent service with Chevrolet specific scan tools or a Chevrolet dealer, for proper diagnostics.

What does my check engine light trouble code $7e8 mean?

That is what they call a "generic" code. Some OBD11 or OBD2, "same thing", scanners will give a $7E8 and $7EA. together and maybe a $7E9.
These are for a sub menu. Click on each one separately and you should or might get a regular "P0" code if your scanner
has the supported module. If not either get a better scanner or
go to a "big box" auto parts store and they will scan it for free and
should be able to give you more information.

Intermintent cruise contol on 2007 ion coupe 2.4 not red line. I've had it to the dealer several times, and it seems to work for them thats Bull### what else can I do to fix this? Thanks

My 2007 Ion 2.2L sedan has the same issue. Every now and then when I am driving, the Cruise Control fails to engage. If I turn the car off, re-crank it, it works fine. Dealer cannot find the issue and it only happens about once a month. No bad computer codes or anything, just annoying.
