Changed the rear lift struts on 2010 town & country van but now the gate will not lift as it did before, can hear the switch working but nothing happens. opens manually but sometimes gives a door open warning even when the door is shut, can open and shut gate manually until you hear it pull shut and then the light indicater on the dash goes out.

I have had the same type of problem and the only way I could open it was to remove the plastic panel on the inside of the lift gate and manually open it.( One can look down inside to see where the latching mechanism is and move the lever. ) Then i had to re-attach the lock mechanism arm to the latch.. You can also check to see if you are getting electricity at the solinoid at the same time, and get a new one from the parts house or dealer. Hope this helps you, Rick

Hi, you have to fix it by just supporting the lift gate with something so it does not fall down on you and remove the metal clips on the end of the support strut. Should have one on each end. They should come right off.The clips are spring tension. Just use a small flat blade screw driver. Sometimes you don't have to remove them just pry them back enough to remove the strut. Then install the new ones.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. You need to make sure that your fuse is not blown. Check your fuse box diagram for the location. If the fuse is fine, you may have a bad switch. There could be a loose wire or a bad connection to the switch.
