My 2008 Ford Fusion V6 #3 coil has power but is not getting signal from the computer. I tested with a coil and plug grounded to the chassis. All other cylinders sparked but the number 3 didn't

The vehicle will start but is missfireing. The diagnosis say that there are no missfires.I replaced all plugs and coils. The number 3 coil was burned badly with bulging and a large crack in the housing.

You need a new PCM - engine computer . The transistor inside is fried . This is a problem on ford coil on plug ignition systems , the spark plug gap gets to wide causing the coil to work harder ,gets hot an shorts out frying the transistor inside the computer . Watch this video on testing computer drivers ( transistor)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FnYllf5D9E&t=13s

You can't just replace the PCM with a used either , needs to take a trip to the dealer to be programmed .

SOURCE: Missfire

You may need a new wiring harness. They have to be ordered from Germany. This is my guess. (I am having a similar issue with my '94; rough idle, #4 cylinder not firing intermittantly, replaced plugs and 8 ignition coils; new harness is my mechanics guess)

cheers and buena suerte

SOURCE: Missfire on number 3 coil on 2001 S type Jaguar 3.0 V6 Sport

Check the igniter module.
I assume you have a ecu code telling you #3 coil is missfiring ?
If so also check the crankshaft angle sensor .
If it is not an error code do a compression test and check the injector.
Hope this helps

SOURCE: i have a 1994 ford

check your compression, you might have low compression in that cylinder-also check your fuel injector in that cylinder, it may be damaged (wiring/connection) or defective.

SOURCE: I have a 2002 Nissan

i would definately replace the coil. pretty certain that will solve your problem. do not drive with misfire or that can cause fruther damage such as catalyst failing, which is prety expensive.

SOURCE: Missfire

just replaced plugs and COPS on 01 f-150 check engine light went out for a day. now it hesitates to start, has terrible miss at idle but runs fine. the codes say running to lean? btw, during plug replacement i removed an after market ford CNG assembly. did that assembly require different 02 sensors to compensate for the flash point differance between compressd natural gas and good ole gasoline.

2008 Ford Fusion 2.3. Ignition switch wiring harness.

Cars don't work like that any more. Take note of what our Pro Technician says. They connect a $5 grand scan tool computer and the engine computer and all the modules tell where the fault is.

Anonymous Feb 22, 2022

None from the ignition switch . A fuse in the BJB - battery junction box, (under hood fuse box) . The PCM - engine computer triggers the coils by transistors inside . Your best bet, take it to a qualified repair shop. These vehicles have been known to fry these transistors if the spark plug gap gets worn to big.

Fuse # for turn signals on Dodge Avenger 2008

https://s26.postimg.org/ev38n6gi1/body_computer.jpg

Click on the link.
I'm not sure that checking a fuse is applicable? If you want to check one, check the top left in diagram. Not only check the fuse, use a test light and check voltage on the fuse circuit. Body computer and integrated power module are the same thing. B+ to integrated power module is hot all the time. The electronics in that module sends voltage for turn signals. The ground for turn signals is just a chassis ground, constant. Just my opinion.
Any applicable trouble codes?

P0351 code loss of power 2.3L08ford ranger,it warms slow and really need to eliminate1~voltage regulator is where?) & 2~ ground through PCM) 3~knowing limits&threashholds{sensorsIGNcircuit}?Ty 0$

P0351 loss of power ? That's not what this code is about . P0351 - Ignition Coil A Primary/Secondary Circuit ,you have a bad coil and possibly a bad coil driver inside the PCM . Do yourself a favor an take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop !
P0351 - Ignition Coil A Primary/Secondary Circuit Description: See the description for DTC P0350. Possible Causes: See the possible causes for DTC P0350. Diagnostic Aids: See the diagnostic aids for DTC P0350. Application Key On Engine Off Key On Engine Running Continuous Memory Coil-on-plug (COP) ignition testing - GO to Pinpoint Test JF . GO to Pinpoint Test JF . Coil pack ignition testing - GO to Pinpoint Test JE . GO to Pinpoint Test JE .
P0350 - Ignition Coil Primary/Secondary Circuit Description: Each ignition primary circuit is continuously monitored. The test fails when the powertrain control module (PCM) does not receive a valid ignition diagnostic monitor (IDM) pulse signal from the ignition module (integrated in the PCM). Possible Causes:
  • Open or short in the ignition START/RUN circuit
  • Open coil driver circuit
  • Coil driver circuit short to ground
  • Damaged coil
  • Coil driver circuit short to VPWR
Diagnostic Aids: Use the 12-volt non-powered test lamp to verify START/RUN voltage at the ignition coil harness connector.
Check the coil driver circuit for open, short to VPWR, or short to ground. Application Key On Engine Off Key On Engine Running Continuous Memory All GO to Pinpoint Test JE .

Left rear turn signal had blown bulb. No power going to socket or new bulb. What do I ck next? Thanks!

Use the test light and probe back a couple inches from the plug. Check for power there. Also put the test light on the B+ side of the battery and check the ground wire.

Ford Fusion!,coolant fan won't stop running on a ford fusion

there is lots of other reasons why the coolant fan would stay on need to be experienced in electricity to perform various electrical testing to zero down on the malfunction. Anyhow I would first check the coolant system making sure no air in the system check the coolant level and move on to see if ur a/c is switched off if engine light is on get read out if on and go on from that point n see any short to ground from inside your car down to d fan relay ur last check point would be ur computer grounding internally Good Luck

2000 ford windstar no fuel changed fuel pump still no fuel changed fuses and relay

Check the power feed for the pump at the fuel pump relay. Pull the relay out, and with a test light clipped to a ground, probe all the terminals that the relay plugs in to. One terminal should be hot at all times. If no terminal has power, either a fusible link off the battery has failed or a maxi fuse has blown-check a wiring diagram to see how the relay gets power to it.
If the relay has power to it, check the other relay terminals with the engine cranking. When cranking the engine, two terminals should have power-the fuel pump feed, and the signal from computer to activate the relay. If both signals are present, check the pump wire from relay to tank, check the fuel pump ground, and check if the coil side of relay has a good ground-signal from computer goes to coil input side, the coil output terminal should go to ground.
Good luck. Post back with what you find.

Replaced ignition coil starter spark plugs fuel pump and filter on a 2004 Ford Taurus and its still not getting any fire what could be causing it not to start

Did you replace the fuel pump and starter because they were defective ?
The ignition system consists of the coil and module assembly, cam and crank sensors, and the computer. Someone would need to check the coil for power and a ground signal from the computer. You would need a shop manual to get the test procedures.

I have a 2007 ford fusion 4 cylinder. Hen I start it it idles low and when at a stop also it started stalling when at stop car runs perfect when driving. I'm stumped I have changed that spark plugs and...

You need to have a ford dealer run a power balance test and also see if the coil is getting a signal to fire, this would be wiring issue or a PCM problem.
