I have a 2003 Porsche Cayenne S. I went to start it, it turned over slowly, then died. I used a 'jump starter', but on the 3rd attempt everything died. What is happening and how can I fix it?

No ignition, no interior lights nothing. Oh, and the onboard computer was removed (as it was all in chinese anyway) and replaced with a stereo unit. I couldnn't get the key out of the ignition either, but saw a post on that and was able to remove it with sharp pointed pen pushed to the left of the key.

SOURCE: Key stuck in ignition. How to remove?

Ha this used to happen to me with my sunfire. Just wiggle the steering wheel while trying to wiggle the key out. Sometimes the steering wheel locks up and then keys will get stuck in ignition. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Porsche Cayenne 2003 battery removal Problem -

The spline socket that is used is a 16 point. You may have to get it from Porsche depending on the area you live in. If you are in a big city, you may find it at a local parts store. Either way, Get one and keep it in the car. Look in the trunk first in that little kit, it may be in there in the trunk area near the spare tire. just for info, there are posts in the engine bay, on the driver's side where you can just start the vehicle. There may be one in the trunk area as well that is used to start the engine. Make sure you get the proper battery. If not, it can cause electrical issues that will make you think your car is posessed some how. Let me know if you need anything further.

SOURCE: I have a 95 firebird.

It's when the security light starts flashing that the infamous "chip" in the key becomes a nightmare to many. Gradually the car begins not cranking anymore or if it cranks it would start and die in a second. Randomly it will do this more and more often until it won't start anymore. VATS, PASSkey and Passlock immobilizer systems are killing cars all over North America, they have a short lifespan and are certainly more effective against owners than thieves. Here is how you save your car
1st trick, Try a spare key that is newer or used less. The pins wear down and so do the keys causing security fail. 2nd trick, (if not starting) turn the key forward 2 clicks till right before it would normally start, leave like that for 10 minutes. ( no less ) After 10 minutes, turn key back then forward and your car might start. I did this in my regal for more than a year. If its shutting down while running, im sorry i have no quick fix... If anything on this page helps you, please remember to comment or give me a thumbs up on the myfixya sight so i can have a better rating to help more people on this. Thanks

Cheap fix: Bypass the chip in your key. Temporary, but effective. Until the TDM (theft deterrent module) in the dash poops out, then you're kinda screwed. I was told that these types of key security systems have a 7-10 year life span. Sucks for us. This link explains the "Key Issue" pretty well.
----- http://vats.likeabigdog.com/

Never worry again fix: Bypass the whole VATS/Passlock/passkey I or passkey II system entirely. Literally take it out, and throw it away. I just did this in my Regal. Took about an hour. Took longer to find the thing than it did to fix the problem. They sell a unit for 200 bucks to totally bypass this system FOREVER. life time-money back and all that. Finally did this in my car. Well worth the 200 if you've looked into getting this replaced... Anywhere from 600-1000 bucks. If you do buy this, please purchase it thru this link. The cost is the same, but i get credit for the sale and im trying to earn my money back, as you will be able to do if you buy fron NewRockies and join the free affiliate program. Thanks
----- http://newrockies.ca?ap_id=judd0081 ----- With this fix, you can take that whole Vats, passlock, passkey system out of your car all together. Good info on both sites.

It works for:
Any GM or Isuzu Vehicle with VATS or PASSKey or PASSLock security systems.
If your car has the chip in the key or in the lock cylinder, then you can save it with this Full Bypass.

You need to take it to a Porsche dealer to have the computer software updated. The sooner, the better! Until then, turn off your PSM (Porsche Stability Management), to see if that helps.

Hi ihave porsche cayenne 2003 does'nt start when you crank its doesn't and its shown press pedal then lights still on then dme lights on, so what is a problem?

Do you hear anything when you try to start it? If not, it's probably a bad battery. Your dome light (and all other accessories) require a tiny amount of power compared to your starter, so, it's possible that your battery has enough power for your dome lights but not enough to start the car. Try jumpstarting the car, if that starts it then you probably need a new battery.

2004 porsche cayenne turbo starts and then immediately shuts off

That's a lot of coolant to lose in that short amount of time- especially with no visible leaks. It sounds like you might be losing coolant to the cylinders which could be from a bad head gasket or a cracked block. Good luck, let us know what it was!

I tried to start the car ( porsche cayenne 2008) by using another battery but it could not start: error message:stearing faulty. So the problem is not the battery... Thank you for answering me

Was the battery from another Cayenne?
German vehicle's electrical systems are very delicate to current changes, even though the batteries may look the same, the amp rating may not be. You can seriously damage the electronics of your porsche by swapping batteries wrecklessly, also the order in which the battery gets unplugged is important, always positive first to allow caps to slowly discharge to ground, your steering is not faulty, the lights went on probably caused by the confusion the computer had due to different currents in the system...
Take care of your vehicle, it aint a bug... :D
Hope this helps...

Where is the negative connection to jump off a 1995 porsche cayenne

Just hook it to any ground place on the chasse, such as the mount bolts for the shocks. You can use the motor mount or to the frame rail.

Last week, my 1998 Lexus ES300 wouldn't start (clicking sound) and I thought it was the battery. I jump started it but noticed that it still made the clicking sound, for my first couple of tries, it did...

If car wont start and clicking sound is heard this is a battery related or starter related, if your car battery is in good condition (which I think it was) then the problem is your starter, have it check to confirm.

How do you jump start a 2005 porsche cayenne? Where are the jump start pegs?

Open front bonnet and remove plastic trim cover at top of left front inner guard. You will see a red cover over a solid pole. This is the POSITIVE power terminal. Connect your power pack RED / POSITIVE cable here and then connect your BLACK / NEGATIVE cable to a good earth point, like the engine mount bolt, bonnet lock, etc..
