It has electric locks. I unlock it with the keyfob and it cannot be opened from the outside. Go inside and open the door, close it and then it can be opened from the outside. Once it's locked, the process has to be repeated.

Have 2005 Sienna and its Driver side door was not openning. Cheap dealer fixed it himself in front of me. After opening the doors plastic assembly while sitting inside with a screw driver. Then he bent the clip towards left where the metal wire is connected. If you guys want to see what he did i would record a video and upload for you guys. Let me know at [email protected]

this ones trick but ive done it. you have to carfully pry back the top part of the door panel and you should get enogh room for a small arm to fit in and manuall pull up on the relese lever for the latch to the door then you can take the door apart for inspection
SOURCE: Front driver door won't open from the inside only
The linkage is probably broken or snapped out of place from inside the door panel.
You'll feel that the handle is much easier to move than the other doors.
If you are confident and able, take the door apart removing the screws and snap pieces and look for the missing linkage. It's usually a snap piece that holds a rod in place on the back of the handle. They break all the time, or dry rot, or jarr out of place. They're easily available at your local auto parts place or even dealership for just a few bucks!
Good luck!
SOURCE: Passenger side rear door only opens from inside.
It sounds like the linkage connecting the door handle to the latch has disengaged....you'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. You can then pull off the weather seal in order to see the inside of the door....

I'm having the same issue how did you fix this?
I'm working on it right now. I took the inside panel off and wanted to get into the inside panel, but ran into some difficulty. I've been told the problem is actually the outside handle is worn or something like that and needs replaced, but the use of the passenger handle compared to the driver side handle is way less, so I have my doubts. Also, it's a color matched handle and would cost a lot to replace. I also tried resetting the computer by disconnecting the cable inside the fuse panel. I believe it's a big 4 heavy gauged wired connector. You can't miss it. After I did that, I was able to unlock the door from the outside if you pull on it twice. Really annoying.
Im having the exact Same problem what was the solution
