1999 tahoe won't start. The entire engine does jerks like it seized up. Replaced starter and battery but did not help. Right before this happened the connector between alternator and battery snapped in half hasn't started since then. Please help. I have fixed the connector cable.

I am not familiar with your model of car but I have encountered a few cars with a similar problem where the connection supplying power to the vehicle was made directly to the alternator and the cable supplying power to charge the battery was a second wire connecting the alternator to the hot terminal of the starter solenoid.

In all cases the cable connecting the alternator to the "battery" had broken which had resulted in the alternator producing a huge power surge straight into the vehicle electrics powerful enough to overload every piece of electronic equipment - management computers, alternator, radio, etc.

I doubt your car will ever start again until considerable investigation work has been carried out involving much expense and many replacements.
You might be lucky and find your disaster is less serious but you will need some experienced help...

They do have tow trucks ! You won't fix it , without knowing how to test automotive electrical systems (circuits )

it sounds like you have blown fuse to the Alternator.. I don't know what car you are talking about but they charging systems vary.. But if alternator isn't getting all the power it needs it won't charge. this should be checked.

good luck

I got a 1999 chevrolet tahoe. when i put the key in the ignition the head lights, and the dash light comes on but it won't even turn. i change the starter and got a new battery and it still won'

well if you have a dvom/voltmeter check the power at the starter terminals. the main terminal should have power all the time the key wire should have power only when the key is turned to crank engine. if you have power at both then i would start looking at grounds

1999 Chevy Tahoe won't Start. Motor will not turn over.

I'm assuming that by turning over, you mean that the engine fails to turn with the starter . Check your battery for 12v and make sure all connections are clean and secure. If battery has less than 12v charge it and check the charging system after re-starting. Lights and radio do not pull the same amperage as the starter and may not tell you much about battery condition. If you have full battery voltage, check the starter for 12v at the battery connection and the small (trigger wire) for 12v with the key turned to start position. If you have both, likely starter has failed.

have to make sure the starter is getting power. make sure the engine will turn over by putting a socket and ratchet on the crank bolt and turn it to the right. the two wires to the starter is battery the big one and the little one is for the ignition. ground test light check big wire, then have a friend key it up to check the little wire.
