Typically, yes just take it easy and dont rev the motor too much or speed. If you can get a cheap quart of oil 10-40 or 10-30 and put it in. The light is due to low pressure- low oil.

Yes you can and the engine will be fine. But only if you have done the last service on time. But if this is a new vehicle you may void your warranty by going over the set service time.

Is the check light red or amber? If red CHECK YOUR OIL! If it’s below fill it to minimum with any engine oil available. It will be fine for 7 days. If the red light stays on do not drive the vehicle until it has been checked by a mechanic.

Hi what kid of v?hicule do u have. Bmw Audi are oil consumers. You have to add between oil changes. Ps could be oil pressure switch. Always check level. And read instruction on oil cap. 0/20. 5/20. Etc. Synthetic or not. Amsoil has nice website to see what kind of oil your vehicle needs and the quantity for oil change.

How often do you change your oil? Is it regularly when the oil light comes on?
Dip your oil as you would when you check the levels. Have a good look at the oil on the dipstick then wipe it on a clean rag or cloth. Check the rag where you wiped it. Your looking to see what colour the oil is.
Work to these general rules. If the oil is clear or a very light brown, the amount of oil in the engine is correct and there are no other warning lights on the dashboard. Another seven days will not do any serious harm.
If you don't change the oil regularly and the oil is Dark brown or Black you need to get the oil and the filter changed "as soon as possible''!! This dark sludgy oil isn't good for the engine.

I put a quart in last week and it was light brown

You should be safe for a week or two. Get it changed as soon as you can afford to do it. The colour in the oil is dirt and grit so Leaving it longer won’t be good for the engine.

Keep checking the levels with the dipstick and If the levels are staying the same it could be an oil level sensor or another faulty sensor in the system.

My bad I read it wrong...if it says check engine oil...it may be low...it's not the change engine oil light (if it does have a light to remind you of an oil change).

SOURCE: Engine light is on.

Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with some of the components it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the Check Engine or Service Engine Soon lights to tell you that there is a problem and you should have the car diagnosed and repaired. Not fluid related, but could be a small problem that's easy to fix now. Even a loose gas cap can turn the light on. Have a code scan, that's the starting point.

What year Subaru? The check engine light indicates an emissions problem most likely. If your Subaru is 96 or newer, it is the OBDII system. You need to bring it to a parts store where they will plug a hand held scan tool into the car's diagnostic port, and check for any codes stored on the car's computer. This is a free service. They can tell you what the code #'s mean and suggest how to fix the problem. Post the codes here with any questions you may have after that.

More than likley it is bad and needs to be replaced, but you could try to clean it. Sometimes they get carbon deposits stuck in them keeping them from closing or opening.

SOURCE: 2005 mazda 3 2.3l that is burning oil (no leaks)

possibly the pcv but check if your cars exhaust smoke is blueish or white in color if it does and your car doesnt have an oil leak then sure its burning engine oil along with fuel, the piston rings is defective, since you replaced engine oil the additive that the owner has put with the oil to prevent blowby is gone thats why it starts burning oil.....

Engine Misfire issues on 99 Camry

You need to take this to a dealer, I think you may have an issue with the injector circuit, possible a defective PCM or wiring issue to the injectors, I don't think that the injectors themselves are the cause.
