Truck was shifting extremely hard when put in gear. It would spin the wheels. It would run up extreme RPMs before shifting. Based on research, I changed the Throttle Position Sensor (TPM). Now it shifts smoothly into 1st gear, but after 30 to 45 seconds, the transmission no longer engages. I can turn it off and restart while moving, and trans will engage again. Shifting into low does not help. Before changing TPS, it was rough, but would get from point A to point B without stopping.
Usually a pressure/ flow problem , Set on level surface on stands/ jack so can't move. run vehicle to 25mph see if it shifts from 1st>2nd>N stop wheels turning with brakes while motor going shift to Park and then to reverse. If all OK check EXACT level of gear fluid when too hot to touch sump pan. You will possibly find it needs about a Quart or 1 litre to top up.

You have to check under the Vehicle and locate the Fluid Check/Fill hole and plug on the Side of the transmission. Check your owners manual for the proper Fluid Type to use.
