Check for proper fuel pressure. It sounds like a fuel pump but I would also check the battery ; could be on its way out too.

I presume you don't need to worry about codes for the radio... unhook the battery for about 15 minutes and hook it back up... that should reset it.

being 1996 I would had replace the vehicle with the used parts saving her 600-700 bucks especially fans and radiator. Is there a reason why she has to replace radiator and the fans, did it ran hot for while, if it did the chances are you can warp the cyclinder head and it can cause poor compression and run rough when it idling, at high speed its hard to tell. can also have clog fuel injectors, run 93 octane and add a can of fuel injector cleaners into the gas tank run it til empty, see if that help. check plugs,cap, rotor and wires.

Try removing the battery for half an hour or so and then reconnecting (check you have all your radio codes etc before you do this).
