I was told needed ac high pressure switch in ac on 2005 Dodge Stratus. I took to someone and after changed air blew cold for about 15 minutes then started blowing hot again. Could it be the low pressure switch instead?

It sounds like you have a leak in your cooling system. take to a shop that puts dye in the cooling line then uses an ultraviolite light to find the leak.

SOURCE: 1999 Chevy Cavalier A/C blows hot air

More likely the recharge blew a o-ring and you have a leak. When your Cavalier was blowing hot air and a recharge fixed it that means it was low on freon which lets o-rings dry out, go back to the shop and have them leak test it. They use a pressurized dye to find the problem. If it's blowing it's not the cooling fan relay, they may have meant compressor relay but I'd have a leak test done first it's not expensive and easier that chasing unknown possibilities.

SOURCE: Dodge Ram AC not blowing cold

By pass both pressure switches one at a time with small wire or a paper clip. If comperssor kicks on replace the swich that you bypassed.
if not it could be the fan clutch ot the compressor. Compressor runs about $400.00

SOURCE: 2001 dodge ram 1500 ac is blowing hot air instead of cold

Your A/C sounds like it needs to be vacuumed
out and then recharged to factory specs. That
should solve the problem.

Sounds like the air conditioning system is low on refrigerant. Low pressure switch is causing it to stop working, OR, the HIGH pressure switch is doing it. I have seen OVER CHARGED systems act this way, also.

Make sure your coolig fan(s) are running while the ac is on. I''m not sure how you now that you have sufficient refrigerant in the system, but I would also have that checked. Over filled systems can act that way too! Last but not least, high and low pressure switches should be checked, amd if all else fails, check the expansion valve.

The pressure switch on the accumilator is at fault if you bypassed it and the compressor worked. Remove the plug-in on switch and move plug away from the accumilator. Then with a small wrench or small pliers remove pressure switch. (be sure to grab it at the base as close as possible). The freon will stay in the system after removal of switch ( there is a valve core inside the accumilator DO NOT REMOVE IT) Replace the switch and check to see that a new o-ring is on switch. Use a little refrigerent oil to lubericate the o-ring before installing. Hope this will help you.

AC quits in my Hyundai Tucson comes back on after 15-20 minutes

it sounds like the dryer is bad, or the filter that goes to the high pressure line. It could also be the pressure switch that goes on the high pressure line comming off the dryer. It has 2 wires that come off of it. It simply screws out and works off of a barring that is pushed by the freon in the system. if its bad or the pressure is low the switch won't work. Usually A/C systems are not hard to work on but they do need special tools, ie a vacume pumb, o rings, special oil, let me know if I can give you any more info

Ac stops blowing cold air after a few minutes

Take it to a second shop for another opinion. If the freon is low or too high it will affect the clutch. Let the second shop give you an opinion without telling them someone else looked at it. There are several pressure switches which can cause problems.

2005 Dodge Durango Front AC won't blow cold, back air works great

could be the front door for the front air needs to be propped open so that is blows cold, could also be the a/c compressor or a clog somewhere up front in the vents... it could be numerous things, but i would say try propping the door open, if that doesn't work try replacing the compressor... haynes makes the repair manuals for the truck, goto auto zone, pep boys, etc. and pick up the book they have step by step instructions on how to fix the most common problems and all the different systems of the durango... the book will be very helpful, cause if you do your own work you can find everything easily..... hope this helps you...

Overheating slowly

Make sure the radiator cooling fans are both coming on when the A/C is turned on. This cools down the condenser which is mounted in front of the radiator. Dodge has had issues with the fan controls for years. There is a fan control module which turns the fans on when the a/c is activated or the engine temp reaches a prescribed level. I would replace the thermostat as well if the vehicle has been previously overheated or has high mileage. Good luck

2005 Dodge Durango won't blow cold in front!! Rear air works fine

you are bodging it and as you dont know anything about the A/C system then leave well alone and get it done with a machine.the whole system needs to be evacuated oil drain needs to be measured then refilled with the correct grade of oil and then regassed with the correct WEIGHT of gas and possibly a leak sealer added using special equipment. If it still doesnt work properly then it needs draining again and the venturi valve removing and checking out on the front unit. This is a specialised job for highly skilled operatives with the right equipment
