SOURCE: leaking coolant from a small hole located in the

water pump failure, water pump on these run off the timing chain and the timing chain runs in oil, so they could not just put a weep hole on the pump because it would go strait to the oil pan, instead they redirected the coolant from the leaking pump to just below the thermostat housing. And good luck, it's at least a 6 hour job on these. Brandon-MO

SOURCE: i have a leak in the water pump housing gasket

Do you have a leak at the water pump cover? The water pump? Or the 4 gaskets that seal the water crossover (that the water pump is in) to the cylinder heads?

Why do i have antifreeze leaking out from d my pullies?

You probably have a water pump that is leaking. There is what they call a weep hole at the bottom of the pump housing and this is where the coolant would leak out on to the front of the crank pulley which would possibly get in the belt pulley grove of the crank pulley and spread it around when the engine is running. You could have a leaking thermostat gasket or upper radiator hose which connects to the motor that is leaking. There is no antifreeze which circulates in your pulleys nor are they filled with antifreeze.

Ford transit 52 plate clutch pedal goes soft then csnt change gear then pump pedal pedal goes back to normal drive for a short while then clutch pedal goes soft again and just repeats as above just bought...

The clutch hydraulic system has a problem-either the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder on the bell housing may be at fault.

If the brake fluid is low in the clutch master cylinder reservoir, there may be a leak to the outside. Refill and check for leaks while someone pumps the clutch pedal. Check around the clutch master cylinder (also under the dash- if wet there around the top of the clutch pedal or if wet on the carpet below the pedal, the master cylinder is leaking.) Check the single line from the clutch master to the bell housing where the slave cylinder is. If no leaks found, likely the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder has failed internally.

Is it safe: there won't be any further damage caused by running it, but if shifting gets harder and harder to do, that may cause a driveability problem.

My 2003 regal is running hot and slowly leaking all the coolant out. Can anybody tell me what the problem is?

Yes, you are running hot from leaking all your coolant out. No one can tell you where it is leaking without looking at it. Could be a hose leaking, the radiator, a bad head gasket or intake gasket, the water pump...if coolant is leaking from the front of the engine, that could be the water pump or radiator hose or a water pump gasket. Pretty common for the water pump to leak when it is worn out, that's how you know when to change it.

When you fill the radiator and overflow tank back up to full, does the engine still run hot? If it does, I would not advise running it-have a shop diagnose it before more serious damage occurs. Head gasket repairs can get very expensive-that is the danger you are facing, and if the head gasket has already gone bad from overheating, continued running of the engine can cause you to have to replace the engine. Overheating is a major cause of early engine failure.

Try to determine where the leak is, from where it drips off the engine. The coolant constantly circulates from the engine to the radiator and back into the engine. The heater hoses circulate coolant from the engine to the heater core in the heater case and back into the engine. Besides the overflow tank, these are the only places coolant would be on the car. The engine can leak coolant from a lot of places, but if leaking to the outside, you should be able to spot where it is coming from. Good luck.

I've changed the head gasket (top overhaul),the thermostat, the radiator cap and serviced the radiator where the water is flushed out and replaced and checked for no leaks but still my trooper over

You have a water leak from the sound of it or water is draining from over heating. Things to check for, leaks at the hose connections, leaks at heater connections on engine, leaks at water pump and any leaks at head gasket. Assuming there are no leaks check or replace or adjust your water pump belt. Take the thermostat out and run the engine without out it. If the problem is solved replace the thermostat recommended for you car. You can also have it checked as well.

Pump is leaking slowly from front seal, makes noise at highway speeds. I'm wanting to flush and refill the system with Barrs stop leak and re conditioner fluid. Wheres the best place to open the system?

Best thing to do is replace the pump as it is make noise telling you that it is coming apart. Unless you have the money to buy another engine you can patch it but a pump is far less expensive than a engine.

CHECK AROUND WATER PUMP AREA.AND THERMOSTAT HOUSING FOR LEAKS.THE MECHANIC WHO PUT THE WATER PUMP ON MAY FORGOT TO PUT SEALANT ON BOTH SIDES OF THE WATER PUMP GASKET CAUSING LEAKS.LOOK AROUND THERMOSTAT HOUSING FOR LEAKING.IF THERMOSTAT SEAL WAS DAMAGE DURING INSTALLATION IT WILL CAUSE LEAKING.IF ALL LOOKS GOOD CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS AROUND RADIATOR .CHECK RADIATOR TOP AND BOTTOM HOSES FOR LEAKS AND CHECK HEATER PIPES AND HEATER CORES HOSES FOR LEAKS.IF ALL HOSES GOOD.CHECK FOR LEAKING CORE PLUGS.

1994 Honda Civic LX\overheating within 2 mile drive

Remove and raise upper hose at thermostat end and remove lower rad hose.
Fill rad with a hose and watch for flow from bottom rad hose and/ or bottom rad hose connecton.......water should fall though rad easily.
Honda rads are cheap.....any restriction....replace rad.

Remove thermostat....fill thermostat housing with hose and watch for water flow at bottom rad hose.
Flush good.

Remove heater hoses.......flush back and forth until a good flow is present "With heater control set to hot" if no or poor flow....replace heater core.

Stop leak can plug everything.

Also.......not likely causing over heating....but ....at your mileage,if you do not know if the timing belt has been changed.....CHANGE IT NOW!
Water pump is optional at this mileage.

Coolant is not ciculating and not leaking it is blowing back in can i had new hose and thermostat housing put on is it air locked?

When engine is cold, take out the thermostat. Put back everything add water as needed to the radiator, leave the radiator cap out. Start the engine be careful stand in front of the radiator and where the radiator cap goes watch if the water is circulating rev it slowly and the water should circulate faster. If it is not circulating the radiator maybe clogged, inside the cylinder head where coolant circulates might be clogged or the water pump is not working.
